You were at the HUB asking students to go and hide in a safe space. I was helping you for the same and I didn’t even know who you are. And then I asked someone about you that person was like you don’t know who Gary Brown is. And I am like yeah… I just joined the team. I can’t remember that day. You and your smile will definitely be missed on campus.

You have helped me understand our systems and processes, listened while I ranted and raved about all the craziness, worked through problems with me, and offered your thoughtful guidance and advice both personally and professionally. Simply put, you have made Centennial a better place, and I am so sad that my colleague and friend is leaving.

As sad as I am for us, though, I am thrilled for you - so happy that you'll be able to focus on your family and friends, golf and of course all the other things in life that really matter! I truly wish you nothing but the best!

So many great memories.  I always enjoyed talking with you in the halls or on our early morning walks in from the parking lot, the antics you enjoyed with Chris Dudley, your humour and good nature always made my day.

You were brilliant with numbers and always generous in sharing your knowledge in a such patient manner no matter how terrible I was with numbers - I will always be grateful for that!

 I have been avoiding this, but I guess I have to take my head out of the sand and acknowledge that you are retiring. I am so happy for you but will feel your absence every day.

It’s been a minute hasn’t it. From the days in the VPA’s Office, to SCE to Business Development. I can’t thank you enough for your leadership, tireless support, commitment and passion for the College and most importantly our students. 

From your mentorship, teaching and coaching to your humor and cookie stash thank you seems so small. Your advice and guidance have been invaluable – how am I going to stay out of trouble now?

You have made Centennial better and you have made me a better person and leader.

Thank you for standing in my corner, for supporting my move to spread my wings, and for providing a soft place to land when I needed time to reboot. Our family appreciates your patience, your kind support, and your willingness to be available when you were needed.

When I decided to make the switch from A.R.C., I heard things about you.  Lots. Of. Things!  And here I am, almost 15 years to the day, happy to report that the things I heard were true!!  You sir, are a kind soul, eager to take life in strides, humble enough to ask for help when you need it, and smart enough to roll with the punches when life hit hard. You pushed me into opportunities when I hesitated, and showed me how to negotiate to my benefit. I dreaded the 60km drive morning and evening, yet I was able to take on the task, knowing my efforts were not only noticed, but greatly appreciated.

When our family was blindsided by unwelcome news, you helped me 'pack up my desk', and called home afterwards to make sure we were okay.  You didn't have to do that.  You did it though, because you are a kind human being with a heart of gold.

I can't say I will miss you, since I haven't been there in a while. Lolol. This is not 'goodbye' by any stretch of the imagination. We shall continue our conversations, whether they be about regular daily routine matters, or the more difficult pieces we face as we navigate new realities in our world.
