One thing significant about the original quote and the way it is written is that she wants to protect her husband and helped him. This helps the audience understand that Lady Macbeth is an anti-hero. I feel that the original text shows a stronger representation because it has more detail, and you can imagine her facial expressions while reading the script.

The significant way this quote was written is that she seems to have regretted some of the things that she did. This helps the audience start to understand that she might have only done those things for her husband, and she wants her hands to be clean of the criminal acts she committed. The graphic novel shows a clearer representation of the text because it shows how her obsession has grown, and it conveys more emotion in general.

Comparing the two texts

In all the comparisons, both of the texts were very similar, which helped the reader understand the whole story. The original text seems that one could easily imagine the emotions in Macbeth's voice. Macbeth, after killing King Duncan, said, "One cried 'God bless us!' and 'Amen ' the other; As they had seen me with these hangman's hands. Listening their fear, I could not say 'Amen,' When they did say 'God bless us!'" (Shakespeare, Scene II). In the graphic novel, it shows his facial expressions and how shocked he was. Both of these texts convey the same feelings of shock and both slightly unnerve the reader.

However, there are some weaknesses in the graphic novel. For example, when Lady Macbeth is walking in the middle of the night, in the original text both the doctor and the gentlewoman talk to each other about why she's doing this. Yet in the graphic novel, Lady Macbeth is talking to herself and the small dialogue between the doctor and the gentlewoman doesn't take place at all until the very end. The doctor said, "what a sigh is there! The heart is sorely charged," which in reply the gentlewoman said, "I would not have such a heart in my bosom for the dignity of the whole body." This is a small discussion, but it is a little more important than many people would think.
