Large Wood Popsicle Sticks

Multi-Color Pom Poms

Sharpie Colored Markers

White Dot Stickers

Directions:

1. Color circle stickers with the markers colors that will match the pom colors.

2. Stick 5 colored stickers on each popsicle stick. Make some sticks random colors and do some with a pattern for different variations.

3. Have kids match the colored poms to the correct color dot on the stick to learn colors and patterns.

4. Have fun!

However, sometimes, these breaks from being inside can get students 'all hyped up' and even more challenging to work with upon return.  

OT's always say "movement needs to be PURPOSEFUL if it is going to be ORGANIZING".  Scavenger Hunts, Photo Hunts, and Object BINGO are great ways to add an organizing "just right challenge" to outdoor breaks. 

Taking a walk outdoors provides many kinds of sensory input (movement, visual, auditory).  Using one of the attached activities to engage your student with a verbal direction (look at the red car), require visual scanning (can you find the pink flower?), challenge attention (lets find three bikes) or create the need for a response (take a picture of the dog) adds the "just right challenge" needed to make your activity purposeful and organizing!
