Foolish
"Mama... I never ... went to the bank at all.. " (pg 129)
Explanation: This quote shows Walter is foolish with the family's money. His mother told him to go to the bank and take out money for Beneatha to go to college. Instead he was so confident in a business that was sketchy, and invested all his money into it. This was foolish because he didn't know that much about what he was investing into.

Post 2- Character Analysis
Avoidant
"Where are you going" "Just out of this house somewhere"
Explanation: This shows that Walter is avoiding his problems, and runs away to go get drunk. Walter does this many times throughout the play. He doesn''t like to discuss his problems. This shows he is avoidant and he runs from his problems.

Personal Opinion
Walter is a character that you can feel for in certain situations. In my opinion Walter tried his best to do right by his family and get a regular job. After, he realized he had an opportunity to invest in liquor store he took the chance for his family. Walter shows throughout the play that he will do anything to better his family's situation. I see Walter as a hard working colored man who is trying to make it out. Yes, I do think Walter is a good person, he shows sometimes he can't handle his temper but overall he is a good guy.

Art

This is an image I found on google images. I googled mixed emotion art and I found this fit Walter. Walter is a character that his hard to understand unless you know a lot about him, and understand's his situation. Most of the time his head is all over the place and his doesn't know what he feels. Walter shows throughout the book when he doesn't know how to handle his emotions that he goes to the bar and drinks it all away.

Poem
"Right now, I am a mixture of very happy and very sad. And I am trying to figure it all out, all of these feelings and thoughts, and what they all mean. Everything I feel is a contradiction of itself, and I do not understand any of it"

This relates to Walter because most of the time, he doesn't know what feeling that he is feeling. Walter is all over the place, and is up sometimes and down also. He is trying to find himself while also trying to achieve one of his dreams. Walter doesn't understand his emotions to his wife. He drink the emotions away when he drinks and this is the mixture of him being happy then going to sad. And, he is constantly trying to figure it all out.

Lyrics explanation
The song has parts of it that explains Walter and his situation. One line is talking about thinking they have it made, then it doesn't turn out to be that way. Walter was this way when he told everyone about the liquor business and his mom disagreed with everyone else. Also, when he thought he finally got a break with the liquor business, his friend never returned with the money.

Theme
The theme of Raisin in the Sun is family is there when all else fails.
" at last alone in the living room, her plant on the table before her as lights start to come down"
This quote shows the theme of the play. I chose a theme that was related to family. Throughout the play it was shown that family always came up, and being together, and relying on each other. I was always told family is all you got when you have nothing. Mama uses a plant to symbolize family and her children when she references to it.
