For local artists, something I've noticed to be beneficial is a Facebook presence. Due to this I have worked on composing a professional page for myself- hopefully to drive business, but also to add to legibility of myself as an artist and give any potential clients a place for them to check out my past performances.

I have used a profile picture that I believe is professional and unoffencive. In the future I would like to schedule a photography shoot to take some photos of me and my guitar to use- as this will be much more fitting and professional looking.

I have also uploaded a well-recorded video of a previous performance, to allow clients to look at my work and to judge if I will be a suitable fit for their venues/vibe.

I have included a professional looking banner/cover photo that I made, the same as the image I have on my business cards- to create cohesion and an image.

Instagram

For Instagram I have done essentially the same thing as Facebook, but I will post more. I am under the preface that I will be using this account a little less professionally, but more of a 'what am I doing today?' and a place to update clients and followers. This will create a sense of colloquialism and will allow for any potential clients to get to know me.

Business cards are a great way to expand your contacts and create business. They are great to hand out so people will have every method of contact for you, but also great to just leave in places like waiting rooms etc. They ensure that you are always ready to create contacts.

For my logo I used AI to generate it- primarily to keep the cost low, but also because AI is really good for this task. I used to create my logo and it did all that I needed it to do.

Contact Building

Living in a small, rural town has its benefits- one being the connections had. When I ran my open mic last year, I gained an abundance of valuable contacts- which has been so helpful in booking performances and finding demand. But, with that being said, where I live there is very little demand. This is where contact building has been essential. To combat this, I have been attending open mics all over East Devon to expand and increase the contacts I have and it has achieved many bookings- one example being a performance at a local festival in the summer. I have also secured performances in different local town's pubs and local events.
