Soar by Joan Bauer is about a boy named Jeremiah and his strong love for the game of baseball. He would do anything in the world to play the game again but he cannot due to a serious heart condition. During the beginning of the book Jeremiah and his father move to a new town that is known for its championship baseball team. It was exciting for Jeremiah and his father to move to this new town because of their baseball team. However, as soon as Jeremiah and his father get to the town something major happened to the baseball team and it all begins to fall downhill. Having a love for the game Jeremiah steps in and tries to help out and get the team and town loving the sport baseball again.

The quote that I chose from Roller Girl is: "My first jam in an actual bout! My first jam in... THUNK. Maybe you're wondering... how does it feel to fall on you're butt in front of 500 people? Answer: Surprisingly... not that bad!" To me this quote describes Astrid and all she overcame while rollerblading. It was something that she never tried before and not once quit, she just got up and kept going and pushing through no matter how much she fell.

Inside Out & Back Again is an amazing book, that I am so glad that I read. I would recommend this book to anyone that is going through something because to me this book shows that you are not alone, and that you are not the only person going through hard times. Hà and her family had to up and leave their home in Saigon because of the Vietnam War. Hà and her family had to completely change their way of living once they moved to the United States. Each person in the family had to do something that was very different for each of them. However, not once did this family stop and say poor me. They just kept on going because they knew that they needed to. It takes a very strong person to do this, and an even stronger person to put a smile on their face while going through everything that they did.

Skippyjon Jones is about a siamese cat that thinks he is a chihuahua. Skippyjon is a little boy that is very hyper and has a very creative imagination. Once he enters his closet he thinks he is in Mexico with all of the other chihuahuas and becomes a hero while he is there. Once he became a hero in Mexico with all of his chihuahua friends he reenters his room to the reality of his siamese cat life.

I would very much recommend children to read Follow The Moon Home. To me this book shows what kids can do if they truly care and also set their minds to it. The children in this book took charge in order to help something that they strongly believed in, which was helping the turtles get to the sea without facing any problems. Adults in the story agreed that they are doing something right, and they followed the students and also gave them more ideas. Children always think that their ideas are not good enough. However, look at the kids in this book. All you have to do is set your mind to it and you will do great things.

"We're so fortunate here, away from the turmoil. We wouldn't have to give a moment's thought to all this suffering if it weren't for the fact that we're so worried about those we hold dear, whom we can no longer help. I feel wicked sleeping in a warm bed, while somewhere out there my dearest friends are dropping from exhaustion or being knocked to the ground." This quote from The Diary of Anne Frank is definitely telling you Anne Franks troubles and all that she was feeling. She was happy that she was safe and in a good place, but she was also sad that she was safe and in a good place. You can see all of the mixed emotions that she had in this quote and everything that was going on in her head at the time. It had to have been hard on her because even though she was alive and not suffering, she felt terrible because she had no idea if her friends or loved ones were safe, and how they could have been in a terrible place.

Dear friend,
I decided to read this non-fiction book about turtles because my little sister LOVES turtles. As a matter of fact, her birthday is coming up and she asked for a turtle birthday cake. I learned a lot of things while reading this book. For example, did you know that turtles can be many different sizes. Some turtles can weigh only three pounds and other turtles can weigh over one thousand pounds. Also, not all turtles are slow! Freshwater turtles and sea turtles can swim fast. Sea turtles can swim as fasts as eighteen miles per hour. Learning about these things were really cool to me because I had no idea about some of the facts that were in the book. As I told my little sister she really enjoyed hearing about the turtles.
Sincerely, your friend Mayson

The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes is about a little girl named Beatrice Bottomwell, but people did not know her by Beatrice, they knew her by The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes. They knew her by that name because it was true. No one could remember the last time she made a mistakes, she was perfect all of the time. She matched her socks, and whenever she made a sandwich for her little brother Carl(her always made mistakes) she used the same amour of peanut butter as she did jelly. She had fans that would stand outside her house every morning asking her questions to see if she had made a mistake, and everyday they got told the same answer: NOPE. The night of the talent show Beatrice was extra nervous because there were so many people knowing that she would not mess up. But what if tonight was the night a mistake was going to happen she wondered? As she nervously stepped on the stage with all eyes on her she performed her juggling act, and then her first mistake was made. After the mistake she made she started laughing and stopped taking life so seriously, it was time for Beatrice to start making mistakes. From that day forward Beatrice was not known as The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes, just Beatrice.

Dear Olivia,
I have heard mom read this book to you many, many times but I can't help but picture you asking all of those silly questions whenever you get older. I know that you are only two but I can still picture it. I can picture it because you have one very imaginative and creative mind already. Another reason why I can see you being the little girl in the book is because this little girl can sure convince the mom to have an opened mind and also do things the little girl asks. For example, whenever the little girl has silly thoughts running through her head, like "what if Santa's boot falls off while he's driving the sleigh?" all of these questions and after every question the mom lays something out that will fix the problem that she made in her head. I can only wait to see how you will act whenever you are older, Liv. Stay little.
Your big sister, Mayson
