Monaco is a very small nation, with no army of its own to defend it. For many major aspects of the government, Monaco relies on the neighboring nation of France for support.  Monaco is a constitutional monarchy. This means that the head of state, is a member of a royal family, and the head of government, is an appointed official. In Monaco there is a National council who writes the bills, votes on the bills, and votes on the the country’s budget. They are then put into action by Monaco’s one of the ministers.

Monaco’s royal family has been ruling for centuries. Monaco is led by the Grimaldi family. The current leader, is prince Albert II. He was born on March 14, 1958 in Monte Carlo Monaco. He served in the french navy before becoming prince. The part of government that makes the laws in Monaco is called the national council. It acts as a parliament. All 24 members are elected by general suffrage. The Grimaldi family is one of the oldest acting royal families in Europe. They descend from Grimaldo. His sons went on many expeditions and his family quickly rose to power. Male heirs take the throne. If there is only a female, she will take the throne.

Now, either gender can rule. 3 of 29 heads of state have been female. Monaco is ruled by the oldest remaining monarchy in Europe. No one can complain about the Grimaldi’s.

Monaco and the surrounding area has been home to people for a very long time. Ligurians were the first people to live in the Area. Evidence of their existence was found in a cave. Myths say Hercules passed through the area. Later the Roman empire controlled the area. Then barbarians, and then, Ligurians again. Today Monaco is a tourists paradise. It is home to around 40,000 people. Monaco is still ruled by the Grimaldis. Monaco was home to first Ligurians. Then supposedly Hercules. Then the famous Roman Empire led by Julius Caesar. Next it was a barbarian tribe. Finally, again the Ligurians. Now it is home to 40,000.

Monaco has a jewish synagogue, 5 churches, 1 cathedral, and even though there are muslims, Monaco has no mosques. It is known as a Roman Catholic country.

Roman catholicism has been around Monaco for generations. Monaco is one of the last remaining roman catholic monarchies in the world. All of the royal family practices it. Roman catholicism is the religion of the state. Roman catholics worship the pope. In numbers, 90% of the residents are roman catholic, 1% are jewish, and .5% are muslim. These are the three main religions in Monaco.

However, it has residents that speaks different languages. Another aspect of Monaco is its food. It has a lot of seafood since it borders the mediterranean sea. Monaco’s main cuisine types are french, italian, mediterranean etc. A very important thing in Monaco is transportation. Some popular cars include audis and bentleys. Monaco is known for its wide variety of expensive rides.

There are also many musical groups. There is a famous orchestra in Monaco. In addition, the little singers children's choir is popular in Monaco. A man named Leo Ferre is an artist who was born in Monaco. Monaco’s popular singers are similar as ones in the U.S.A and other countries. Some notable ones include Justin Bieber, Kygo, and The Weeknd. Music is an important factor in Monaco’s culture.

Tourism is the main source of wealth in Monaco. The nation’s economy is based on tourism. Tourism accounts for 15% of Monaco’s annual revenue. That is the largest source of income in the Country. A reason for this, is Monaco’s low tax rate. This draws more and more tourists every year. Another big aspect is the Monte Carlo casino. Studies have shown that the tourism rate in Monaco has increased every year since the casino has been founded. Good reputations, fun times, low taxes, and prime location are all major factors that play into Monaco’s very high tourism rate.
