A good theme for the book is to think twice before you get involved with someone. Easy is trying to help Daphne Monet even though that is putting him at odds with Albright. He is figuring out what Albright is having him do isn’t worth the money he is giving him. Easy is trying to escape the mess he brought himself into and rethinking if the decisions he made were right. He is trying to save himself becuase now he is a suspect in all these different murders. An example of this is easy tried to get out of this problem saying to Albright to take the money back he didn’t want to do this anymore and Albright if he took his money he belongs to him. Now Easy not only carries himself with more confidence, but Easy is quickly learning that he can not trust everyone he thought he could. This leads into morality. Easy at first did not care much about morals when taking the job because he needed money. Now Easy has quickly discovered the trouble he has gotten himself into was not worth breaking his morals yet it is too late. It is to late for Easy it seems like because Albright will not allow him to leave since Easy already took his money. This then leads to the theme of “Think twice instead of making irrational decisions”.
