At the beginning of the workshop I felt quite nervous, but as time went on the environment quickly changed to very inclusive and enjoyable. It became much more relaxing to talk to new people after the icebreakers which worked very well.  

What were your most uncomfortable moments-

My most uncomfortable moment was at the beginning of the workshop walking in I felt quite anxious around so many new people.

What were the most enjoyable moments-

The most enjoyable moments were the icebreakers the tableaus. It was so much fun teaming up to make such ridiculous scenarios and the entire room seemed to light up once the tension was relieved. 

What did you discover about how you learn in drama-

I discovered that I seem to learn very well from practical examples. Much More so then on pen and paper.

How might primary students learn in drama-

Based on assumption, I think that primary students may learn best in drama when the activities are inviting and fun and allowing of students to be themselves. Also, when the activities are very hands on and entertaining rather than boring.

I found this aspect of the course highly enjoyable and it was quite eye opening for me to see just how engaging and motivating an improvised drama activity can be even for a group of tired, and unenthusiastic uni students.

Seeing Elisa take on the role of a treasure hunter and take the class on a journey was very interesting and the themes that were entrenched in the task seemed like they were being learnt in a very natural and fun setting rather than having them forced upon us through a power-point or a lecture. The main focus of this week was to take photos using 3 different camera shots, long shots, mid shots, and close-ups. I took photos of my dog, characters hidden amongst a plant and my front door looking out into the world. We also had to create a storyboard of our choosing. My storyboard needed significant refinement. After seeing the work of my peers and reevaluating, I should have shown the use of camera angles and distances as well as more clear written descriptions of what was going on in each scene. I have always been interested in media arts, having started a youtube channel a few years back and writing and filming iMovies with my friends for over a decade. I look forward to being able to teach media arts to a new generation and pass on the love I have for creating digital works.]]> 2022-05-27 11:53:55 UTC https://padlet.com/lraschel/cwjxyf94zqk3nej2/wish/2202111458 Week 10 reflection lraschel https://padlet.com/lraschel/cwjxyf94zqk3nej2/wish/2202124813 This was the week in which my group for the final performance task really got into gear regarding the production of our assignment. Our brainstorming process was a bumpy road with many of our ideas being kicked to the curb immediately and only a few gems sticking around. Being given the stimulus of orange, we were initially stumped on what we were going to base our performance on. Our initial idea of a prison escape (orange jumpsuits) was quickly overturned by Elisa for not matching our target audience and after much discussion, the idea of superheroes escaping an evil lair eventually came to fruition. The drafting and rehearsing process over this week and week eleven was highly rewarding as my group had fantastic chemistry and our filmed aspect was incredibly fun to produce. Creating our dance was initially quite challenging as no member of my group had previously participated in dance activities, and after continuous brainstorming, we finally came up with the idea to parody the YMCA dance with TEAMWORK. While not at the highest technical level, after much rehearsing we perfected the timing and motions and created a seamless dance that proves even those without a dance background can get involved and create something unique and entertaining. ]]> 2022-05-27 12:11:27 UTC https://padlet.com/lraschel/cwjxyf94zqk3nej2/wish/2202124813 Week 12 Reflection lraschel https://padlet.com/lraschel/cwjxyf94zqk3nej2/wish/2202134841 This was the most enjoyable week of the course in my opinion. Having the opportunity to perform a fully rehearsed drama in front of the class was quite frankly an unforgettable experience and by far the best university experience I have had in a year and half. I enjoyed my role as the evil supervillain Doc Croc and it was awesome to have such a positive reaction from the class. I was very nervous to perform after seeing the more emotional and nuanced performances of my peers given that our performance was almost strictly for comedic purposes but after a terrific performance from my group I believe that it is safe to say we delivered on what we set out to do. To summarise, this unit was so unique from anything that I have experienced in the past and I can safely say that my motivation to teach drama to a new generation is higher than it ever was before.]]> 2022-05-27 12:23:29 UTC https://padlet.com/lraschel/cwjxyf94zqk3nej2/wish/2202134841
