We all have a strong vision and knowledge of technology. Interestingly enough, you all were really excited that there are a lot of tools that are free, because we all already know the reality in our classrooms.
#investmoreineducation#teachersneedPD#TeachersNeedCommunityofLearners

Financial support and faculty security are vital in overcoming barriers to adopting technology in the classroom. Instructors need to feel confident and secure in that any problems that arise will be taken care of quickly and accurately. To make such quick-fixes, institutions need to invest in high quality equipment, and knowledgeable tech staff to keep it running, which costs a significant amount of money. In doing these things, teachers might be more apt to try adding technology to their classrooms. #investineducation #roadto21stcenturyskills

School systems should believe in technology usage in the classroom because it is a long lasting and developing investment. Instead of buying the cheap equipment teachers should be able to use updated equipment because in the long run it will last longer. Additionally, there needs to be an investment in technology! To derail skeptics of technology, it might be useful to actually try it out and see how it changes the students learning. This will help see whether the specific technology teachers use (or don't) is worth it. It's the 21st century and we can't ignore that technology will always be a part of our world now!
#invest #believeintechnology #21stcentury

The introduction of technology usually begins slow and apprehensive but soon escalates. Before the acceptance of technology can occur, school systems must overcome barriers. Overcoming barriers is a necessity if we are to maximize classroom success in the 21st century. Three factors are impeding our ability to overcome these barriers. These barriers are: lack of financial support, institutional support, and time to learn new technologies. Even though the barriers are present, there are ways in which we can change. The key to allowing technology in our schools is investment. With investment comes care and responsibility of action. If time, money, and support are invested then the barriers are sure to be knocked down. Technology is increasingly becoming a large part of our world and we as educators can not deny this transition. We must embrace technology as a innovative tool in our classrooms.
#technology #overcomingbarriers #teachingwithtechnology

Technology can be a very important piece of a classroom. Districts using the technology need to be willing to pay for reliable tech. Staff should also be able to fix a problem that arises quickly. It is also ideal to test the technology, and be sure that all set ups are similar in each classroom. Staff should also be updated on using the technology and how using it in classrooms is going. Technology is a great way to engage students and to have non-traditional learning take place. #tech #technology #education #classroom

With technology advancing every day, barriers are often thrown towards the teachers and they must overcome these barriers for success. Lack of institutional support, financial support, and lack of time to learn new technologies often hold back users from adopting technology. Since the integration of lessons through technology is important and can also be engaging, it is crucial that we, as educators overcome these barriers to enhance learning within the classroom. One way of doing this might include: taking the time out of a day to sit down and have somebody teach teachers how to use this new technology within the classroom. It might be beneficial for a school to offer some sort of training program for educators to attend in order to successfully integrate technology into lessons. There are many other ways to jump these barriers that the article suggests that are also worth taking a look at. #technologyintegration #techisfun #21stcenturyadvancement

There have been consistent barriers that teachers have encountered when trying to integrate technology in their classrooms that have been difficult to overcome. These barriers being, lack of support from the school, lack of finical support to purchase new technologies, and lack of time to learn about and implement the technology. Not all technology is equal or equitable. One way in which we can amend this issue is by finding educators, that have experience in researching and experimenting with new educational technology, willing to look at new technology. If these educators who are fluent in what quality technology looks like, they would be able to determine if this technology would be beneficial for the classroom, and be fluent enough in it to instruct the other teachers on it. This is just one way I can see to overcome those barriers to ensure we have quality technology in our classrooms. #technologyintegration

Teachers are unsure about the convenience, reliability, and responsibility when it comes to maintenance. Another barrier that teachers face is determining if the technology is worth it. the argument is that the technology is not critical for learning. In determining if the technology is worth it the institution should increase faculty awareness and faculty should assess the impact of the technology and collaborate with others in the building. Instructional support can be given through a technology staff and that facilities should have support programs.
This article has really got me thinking about using technology in my future classroom and the different supports that should be available for me as a teacher.
#education #technology #nofears

There are multiple barriers to teaching with technology. In today’s world of technology, our students are more advanced than we are and it is increasingly harder to keep up with all of the hottest technology trends. Technology is such a huge part of our students’ worlds that it is almost impossible not to implement it into the daily classroom. But a problem arises when the technology is not reliable or is too advanced for the teacher to use with their class. It is important that when purchasing technology for a school that is be the best you could possibly get with the money you are allotted. “You get what you pay for” really does matter when it comes to functional, long-lasting technology. It is also highly recommended that teachers be given the opportunity to work together to learn how to use the technology or receive training before it is used in the classroom with a group of students. This way, we are able to effectively use the technology that is at our fingertips. #effectiveteaching #technology

From the Barriers to Adopting Technology article by Butler and Sellborn, it is clear that there are several barriers which discourage educators to use intentional technology in the classroom. Teachers typically struggle with reliability of technology they use, there are several problems reported that hinder using the technology effectively, it is challenging to learn and incorporate technologies in the first place, and there is little institutional support. There were some suggestions made in the article to overcome these obstacles, such as increasing information and training about equipment, having the equipment checked regularly and fixed, and making classrooms more similar to each other. A final suggestion would be to check in regularly with faculty and ensure that the technology is working and worth using in the first place.
#checkinwithteachers #ifitsbrokefixit #meaningfultechnology

From reading the article Barriers to Adopting Technology I really found some things that I hadn't even thought about when it came to using technology. I know in my life I have had trouble relying on technology. Sometimes the connection to the internet goes down, or the website that you thought you would base a whole lesson on doesn't work, or we have things breaking down. It is the responsibility of the teachers to come together and advocate for the best technology that we can get for our students. The equipment that we use must be reliable enough to have our students using them regularly without having a class wide iPad crisis, or a computer lab shut down due to system error. Teachers should do regular checks to see if the systems are still working at the highest level so that students can get the most out of these devices.
#technology #teachingwithtech #integration

What I loved about this article is that it not only highlighted the barriers we as educators’ face when integrating technology in the classroom, but provided suggestions to overcome these barriers. It is the most frustrating thing when you have a brilliant idea for a lesson and are planning on using technology to engage your students, but your technology fails. Heck, just last week my document camera wasn’t working for a lesson, so I improvised. If we recognize these barriers, we need to work to fix them to provide students the best education we can. These barriers shouldn’t plateau our use of technology but inspire us to keep trying. As teachers, whether we have strong institutional support or not, we should collaborate, share our experiences with different technologies and work to integrate technology as successfully as we can.
#techsupport #teachersneedtech

The article Barriers to Adapting Technology for Teaching and Learning discussed the main issues that educators often find with using technology. The article went on to discuss multiple solutions for each issue and made sure to emphasize the importance of having the technology in the classroom. Two of the main issues that I took away from this article were reliability of technology and willingness of educators to learn new technology/ proficiency. The suggestions for reliable technology was to convince staff that maintenance of the technology is vital and that more expensive technology is going to be better quality. I think these suggestions worry educators. The idea of spending more time and money on technology does not appeal to all, but it is worth it in the end. As for staff proficiency and willingness to learn technology, some suggestions were to keep technology as similar as possible in each room and introduce technology to a group with ranging level of technological ability. That way no one will be intimidated by learning the new technology.

After reading the article Barriers to Adopting Technology for Teaching and Learning, it is evident that teachers on every level require support in regards to integrating technology into their teaching. The article explains that some of the responsibility for technology use depends on school personnel, such as a technology repair staff and the purchase of high quality equipment. On the other hand, teachers can become more competent and confident with technology by collaborating on the ways technology provides instructional support. These types of discussions could take place during grade level meetings or even possibly as a professional development session. Teachers should also seek out tutorials in order to learn more functions of the equipment they have available, this information could also be sought out from other teachers in the district. The best way to overcome technological barriers is collaboration and communication between all staff members. #technologycommunity #technologyPD

This article discussed the three main barriers that prevent teachers from incorporating technology into their classrooms. The first, unreliability, could be fixed if teachers were up to date on how to fix their own problems or someone could come quickly to help. Both could be done through a quick training program or even a blog page about that technology containing how to fix common problems. The second, learning how to use new technologies, could be fixed through the a similar solution. A shared blog between the teachers where teachers could post various technologies and how to use them would work great. The third barrier, is technology worth it, is an obvious yes. Technology is a huge part of the world today, embrace it and show your students that you too, are a lifelong learner wiling to try.
#teachingwithtech #4everlearner

Butler and Martin Sellbom explore the three main barriers of integrating technology based on university studies. For teachers, finding new technology that has pedagogical benefits is only half the battle; when trying to put these technologies in place they must also be knowledgable about their functions as well as what ways they can be best used in the classroom. With this, teachers must also be willing to learn when it comes to technology so that they will be able to use these innovations with their students as well. #technologyforeducation

This article focused on adopting and implementing new technologies in the classroom and why some teachers find it difficult. There were a few reasons that were consistent between teachers, and one I want to touch on is the learning of new technologies. Teachers already have a lot on their plate so trying to get them to incorporate technology they aren't comfortable with can only make the job harder. My solution for that is to have training of these technologies before the school year. I think having this training will help the teachers feel support from administration and it will help them feel comfortable about the use of this technology. If we want our teachers to implement technology, I think administration should do what they can to help. #teachtheteachers

The time for excuses has run out. Twenty-first century students learn and process in a way that demand twenty-first century teachers to integrate technology into the classroom. Limited equipment, access, training, and support are all first-order barriers that are difficult to overcome, but second-order barriers like traditional beliefs of classroom functionality are much easier to change. The question becomes how do we maintain our classrooms and prepare for the future of technology? Partnering with universities, sponsors, and donors is a great way to get started as well as creating a minilab. Create “tech teams” consisting of experts in your school and participate in training and workshops. Start small and integrate technology as often as possible while creating new classroom procedure, expectations, and ways to monitor and assess student progress and learning. Of course, technology integration is a big first step, but working with your teaching team and community can create an environment fit for teaching twenty first century learners. #21stcenturylearners #21stcenturyteachers #changingtimes #classroomcommunity #teachingwithtech

Research has shown that there are many barriers to technology adoption including; reliability, learning, and institution support. Many teachers believe it is a lot to learn and to adapt to. Older teachers are used to their old way of teaching and have a hard time changing it when new technology is introduced. I understand when teachers say technology is hard to rely on, but this article suggests many ways to resolve that issue. It also mentions ways to resolve the learning part of it, as well as the institution support. Teachers don't necessarily need to dive into every technology advance at once, but in order to learn, it takes practice and teachers should slowly start to adopt it. #adopttechnology

There are barriers for absolutely everything, especially technology. Though, technology use in the classroom is on the rise and will continue to rise due to individuals tackling those barriers. In order to be an effective teacher, we must incorporate the use of technology in our classroom. It is a great tool to enhance our teaching. I agree with the article that it is important to use reliable technology and to instruct teachers how to meaningfully use it in their classes. We can do so by having mandatory tech meetings that allow staff to learn and test new technology. As future educators, lets encourage surrounding faculty to incorporate technology use in their classrooms!
#adopttech #4tech
- Jordyn Gildner

When just looking around me, I see so many barriers for so many things. And what is true about so many barriers is that they relate to time and money - and this is very true as we look at the barriers of technology. In some regards, it can be difficult to have a quick solution to the financial barrier because there is not an endless supply of funds, but then we, as educators, are challenged to take time and learn technology we can you in the class. But it can go deeper than just learning that technology, need to share the wealth and our favorite tools so that our students can learn and access the material to the best of their abilities!
#teachwithtech #neverstoplearning
-Kalyn Overweg

As the article points out, there are many barriers when it comes to technology. Teachers may often become frustrated with these different barriers that prevent learning and all together abandon the use of technology in the classroom. While there are very real barriers, there are so many positive ways technology can impact a classroom. The more teachers familiarize themselves with the different technology resources available and learn strategies to combat these barriers, the better the classroom relationship will be with technology. Students within the classroom will also have the chance to familiarize themselves with technology and adopt strategies to work past them. Together, we can make the classroom a technology friendly place!
#teachertech #powerup
-Arden Clark
