Infection prevention has been incorporated throughout the entire program. Infections acquired in the hospital are harder to treat and can cause significant delays in recovery or even death. As a new nurse gearing up to enter world of patient care, the curriculum, simulation, and clinical work has laid the foundation to be able to contribute to the care of patient while working with the healthcare team.

Components of the program has prepared me to take stewardship of EBP infection prevention. These components are utilized across the lifespan of the patient and include the pathophysiology of infections, pharmacologic management of infection, clinical participation in care of patients, and the fundamentals of providing safe patient care by preventing the spread of disease using universal precautions. Team work has been highly encouraged and emphasized throughout the nursing program and has allowed for the development of teamwork, group dynamics, and varying leadership styles.
