Promoting Growth Mindset ( Two stage exams, classroom assessments techniques.)

What it is: It is an article from Washington State University about Promoting Growth Mindset
Why you found it so impactful: Having a growth mindset is something a student needs while in school. I found this article really useful because it gives teachers strategies on how to promote it. For example: Classroom assessment techniques, this gives various techniques on how assessments can metacognitively make students think.
"What important question remains unanswered?" Outlier characteristic investigation as well.
How it will impact your practice: I think actually applying these various assessments would be great for the students. This way the students do not get used to the same assessment.

What it is: It is an article from stanford magazine that contains information about the growth mindset.
Why you found it so impactful: The biggest take away for me was the growth mindset vs fixed mindset visual. How awesome would it be to make this big and hang in the classroom? A visual representation for my students to see! There is something about actually seeing visually in the classroom that makes a student think more about it. If they are having problems in school in general, they could look at what their thoughts should be if they want that growth mindset.
How it will impact your practice: By creating more students in my classroom with more growth mindsets. They will embrace challenges, persist in the face of setbacks, see effort as the path to mastery, learn from criticism, and reaching higher levels of achievement.

SEL is....

What it is: SEL information along with a graphic, which are downloadable with a spanish version as well.
Why you found it so impactful: Social and Emotional learning is very important for students. SEL branches out to many sub areas that greatly affect how a student learns. As mentioned in the "effort effect' padlet. I strongly believe in a visual representation
How it will impact your practice: The visual representations I have in my classroom will be connected in a way. I never liked when instructors had random posters in their classroom that made no sense. If a student sees these visuals everyday, I really do think they will practice what they say.

What it is: A guide that explains signs, tips, and resources about suicide prevention for your students.
Why you found it so impactful: I have known several classmates in high school that committed suicide during that year, or in the years beyond.
How it will impact your practice: I honestly think that if students have a growth mindset and a strong SEL they will less likely to commit suicide. Although, what happens at home is out of my control, but I wanted to save these resources because I will look for the signs in my students if they arise. Also, it gives resources on how to respond to a student suicide, being ready to explain to students on what happened and how to prevent it keeps that awareness for the students.

What it is:
Terms on the LGBTQ community and actions to help have an easier experience at school.
Why you found it so impactful: As educators we are to help every student have a good experience at school. This means respecting them and helping them if they are struggling with identity, or being bullied for being different.
How it will impact your practice: I am new to all the terms with the LGBTQ community. I think having this resource on my computer will help me be more aware. Using proper pronouns for students is very important, a students identity is targeted if I do not use those pronouns. It also gives me resources to give to LGBTQ students. If a student knows that the instructor helps all students; I think this create a safe and brave space for those students.

What it is: Excellent strategies to keep lessons fun and engaging.
Why you found it so impactful: The learning process for a student needs to be fresh and exciting. I never want me students to lose interest in what they are learning.
How it will impact your practice: I mentioned in my Personal learning theory that I do not want to use lengthy essays or long multiple choice exams in my practice. If the state requires then I will, but if I don't have to, I wont. I mentioned that I want to use Project Based Learning instead. Solving real-world problems that apply to our unit is so engaging, and much more exciting than writing an essay on microeconomics. I want to create motivation and creativity in all my student do.

Which is essentially a space with various tools for students to use that can better their projects. So what does that mean for me? I want my students to be creative on what they do for their projects. In our classroom makerspace I will include links to various "tools" like the adobe suite (photoshop, illustrator, premiere, etc) Student discussion board for expression of ideas on what they are doing for their unit project, and other school resources that can benefit them.
