The streets of Garden Heights were trashed. People would say they were “ blackened frames”. Starr said that the world called Khalil a “thug” but she saw him as a hazel-eyed boy with dimples. She said she’ll never forget how he died and how the fight for justice was more than just for Khalil: it was for her family and community too.
