Good Fences Make Good Neighboors

The right thing to do to separate properties is to put up a fence. A fence can set a limit on a backyard or front yard, a playground, a parking lot, and many other physical structures and places, including countries. Fences are not always physical, sometimes they are metaphorical, the relationship that we establish with a person becomes our “fence” this relationship marks the boundary of how close we allow that person in our lives. By the phrase “Good fences make good neighbors” it is to understand that when we have a good bond of a relationship with someone it means that we have a good fence with that person, therefore they are a “good neighbor”

Twyla and Roberta had done a great deal of “fencing” while they were together at the foster care home, they became more than just close, they came together and were there for each other while being at the foster home for children. Twyla and Roberta despite being from different racial background they treated each other as sister while being at the foster home. The “fencing” or bonding that Twyla and Roberta had built in their stay together at the foster home, made them be the best neighbors to each other. The fact that both of their mothers were still alive but were not able to take care of them because Roberta’s mother was too sick, and the Twyla’s mother one danced all night, brought them closer together so they built a fence around themselves against the rest of the children in the foster home. And not only they were the best neighbors but they had built a fence together.

This the poem express very well the meaning of my selected sentence the most literally speaking of all the poems assigned. In the poem the author reveals the information that she lives in a doorway between two rooms, and then she describes her view and the interactions that she sees in the neighbor’s home. The author describes her neighbors very kind and with confidence like she has built a good relationship with the neighbors and there is not really a need for a strict fence that keep them separated and like if they had built a fence around both of their places. The author not only express comfort and trust towards the neighbors but also she can easily see inside their house and peek on what is going on, like they are not strangers like if they are very good neighbors.

Japanese descent must report to relocations center.

The main character of the poem, the fourteen years old girl from Japanese descent is trying to understand what is happening, when she finds out that she has to move away. She probably did not understand why all of the sudden this fence is being put upon her and her family. Her best friend, Denise, is a white girl that sits in front of her in class. Even though her friendship with Denise was not perfect they set next to each other in the same row in their classroom and they talked and bonded, but Due to the time period that they were living and the historical events happening at the moment, Denise had put a fence upon their friendship and was rude to her friend. The girl that was from Japanese descent accepting the idea that she had to leave also raised her fence up against once her best friend Denise and told her that she will miss her once she is gone. in this case they had no good fence and ended up not being good neighbors

The passion that is expressed in this poem lets me nearly speechless. The author describes in a harshly graphic manner the misfortune that he and his family had have to go through because of the exploitation of native land and native culture. A hostile relationship with the neighbors is seen in this poem. The fences that has been put on are cruel and unfair, there is no way that there could be a “good neighbor” relationship under the unbearable situation that they live in the reservation described by the author in this poem. The neighbors in this poem would be the world outside the reservation and those fences are “not good” the relationship between the authorities and the government in the reservation with the authorities and the government outside of the reservation need to be more sincere and fair in other for the two places that can be “good neighbors”. As long as the conditions in the reservation stay so critical and poor, the government and authorities outside of the reservation are not being good neighbors.

As we know, this coming presidential election of 2016 are very important and historical in terms of its candidates. For many people the republican candidate of this elections is considered a threat for immigration. Canada and Mexico had decided to take down the fences between them and built a fence around them both and be stronger together.
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/mexican-minister-says-ties-with-canada-could-strengthen-if-trump-elected/article30462269/
