         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The Steam engine <br></strong>After the Europeans switched from wood to coal in the 17th Century  the mines were deepened and as a result  became flooded. In 1698 Thomas Savery patented a machine that could draw water from flooded areas. But after his success his invention was proven only to be able to draw water from shallow areas. In 1711 an Englishman named Thomas Newcomen invented the Steam Engine that allowed water to be drawn from deep flooded mines. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The Locomotive<br></strong>On february 21 1812 Richard Trevithicks went on a railroad journey in a locomotive (‘Pen-y-derren’) that carried ten tons of iron, five wagons and seventy men 9.75 miles in four hours and five minutes. 25 years later George Stephenson and Robert Stephenson, designed (Stephenson’s Rocket) the most advanced locomotive of its day. With the smoke chimney in the front it became the future of locamotives for the next 150 years </div>]]></description>
