James I (1603-1625)

I am King James I and I am the first puritan King who took over after the Great Queen Elizabeth. I was the first king of England to translate the Bible into English,calling it the king James Bible. I was honored as the namesake for the new English settlement in our newly aquired land of America. We named it Jamestown.

Charles I (1625-1649)

I am Charles I, I took over after King James I, and I also believe in the divine right of Kings. I continued King James I line of work and dissolved the governed body multiple times without their permission. However, this caused a battle I call the "English civil war" so I sent my men, also known as the "Royalists" or "Cavaliers" against the "Roundheads". In the end, I was defeated, charged with treason against my beloved country, and executed as punishment.

Oliver Cromwell (1649-1658)

I am Oliver Cromwell and I emerged as a military leader during the English Civil War who took over after Charles I. Due to my work and efforts during the war, I was awarded with the title "Lord Protector" and gained the power to rule England until 1658. By abolishing the monarchy, I managed to change the England government and create the Commonwealth. Most people knew me for partaking in the execution of the previous ruler, King Charles l, and for ruling England as a military dictator. I was very strict on social control and I had a vision of a puritanical.

Charles ll (1658-1685)

I am Charles ll, a former ruler. During Cromwell's rule, I had a hard life. I was exiled since I was seen as a threat to the throne as Charles l's son. After Cromwell passed away, I made my return to England and decided to restore the Monarchy and this time period was known as the "Restoration". I faced many problems like The Great Fire of London the resurgence of the Black Plague. It was my job to patch the wounds left by the Civil war. I eventually made a document called the "Declaration of Indulgence". I also revived multiple past times such as dances, singing, live performances, and blood sports.

James ll (1685-1688)

Greetings, I am James ll. I am the Roman Catholic brother of former king Charles ll. During my time, there were lots of challenges that included religion. Due to these challenges a revolution called the "Glorious Revolution of England" began. I was eventually overthrown peacefully. However, during the revolution the constitutional Monarchy was solidified and the English Bill of Rights was made to limit the power of the Monarchy.

William and Mary (1688-1702)

I am Mary and this is my husband William. We are former rulers. I am the daughter of King James ll but I was raised unprotestant unlike my father. I married my 1st cousin, who is of course William of Orange, who is a Protestant Dutch Prince. When Parliment overthrew King James ll they asked us if we wished to join and rule jointly as a Protestant alternative. We accepted and agreed to have a say in making laws and decisions in Parliment. We were known for passing the English Bill of Rights which officially limited the power of the Monarchy in 1689.
