I did not seem to have issues with key terminology. My question: In assessing the organisation for risks to mitigate, noting that we need to have a clear understanding of the internal and external environment what models could be used to systematically assess this. EG: the Balance Score Card approach? PESTEL?

Sustainability Risks

No issues with the core concepts. However I wonder if we should recalibrate the language of ´long term´ in relation to sustainability. It´s absolutely not long term, it is here, even if the effects will unfold over an extended period. What it does demand is entirely different ´system focused management´, rather than ´entity based management´ - an entity is as weak as the weakest link in the economy in which it is embedded, with causal chains that are terribly difficult to foresee in their unravelling. The materials do hint at this, but it seems less prominent than it should do (see, for example, AASB S2/ IFRS S2 on climate, requiring consideration of the value chain.)

It may just be the orgs I am involved with, but many folk want to focus on risk management for opportunity capture, maybe because they define risk in a different way (effect of uncertainty on outcomes).

What are your reflections on this?

My organisation has shifted from a reactive to a slightly more proactive risk management including increased focus on operations risk due to CPS 230 risk management. What is your view on CPS 230 and how this ties in with the current risk management moving forward?
