Why the Pandemic Could Make Us Happier People. “A New narrative of happiness is emerging” Jennifer McGregor This article is about how the Pandemic is changing the way American people are achieving happiness, which is called the “American Dream”. Most American’s pursue their dream by working and creating material things which adds causes them a lot stress and emotional unfulfilled. People get a true sense of happiness through a relationship with our Creator and when we are surrounded with good, happy family and friends.

Sonie williams
NKY hates heroin is a site and organization that helps people affected by heroin addiction and the families of addicts. They offer a digital resource guide that they update regularly. You can also request a paper copy of the guide or print it. The guide covers a brief overview of heroin and heroin addiction, ways to help a loved one, a breakdown of the different types of treatment available, information about casey's law as well as a list of medical and nonmedical detox centers, and residential options for men, women and adolescents. The guide covers the majority of Kentucky and the Cincinnati area. The website also offers links to information about Casey's law, addiction, education to help prevent addiction and overdoses, and a hotline number.

I could not find any direct information about how NKY Hates Heroin is funded but there is a place on the website for donations. I believe they also host a 5K run in the NKY area to raise awareness and get donations.
http://nkyhatesheroin.com/

It was found that a barrier existed in the actual programs availability to these patients. The required staff to help facilitate would be addition specialists, counseling services, medication assisted treatment (MAT) etc. If these institutions provided these the reimbursement from Medicaid is provided by the government. I am not sure of the surrounding locations in my specific area but I'm certain there is a large lack there of as evidence of the high opioid addiction in my community as well as many of my classmates. With this incentive I would certainly hope that healthcare organizations increase the amounts of community resources for this population. If more is available to this patient population we could see a decrease in the amount of opioid addiction.

Northkey offers outpatient therapy resources as well as counseling for individuals, couples and families. They offer flexible appt. times and a 24/hr crisis/emergency line that's available. Northkey also has a crisis stabilization service designed to help when you are in a high stress time and it can be critical in the treatment and recovery process. If needed, you can meet with a clinician in a safe location to get a better assessment than over the phone and develop an action plan. Northkey participates with major insurances plans, Medicare and Medicaid and they seek funding through grants. There are many locations and individuals can be seen when and where it is convenient for them, which can be a huge relief for patients with mental illness as sometimes it's a struggle to even get to appointments.

The Heart House Shelter in Dearborn Co., IN

https://hearthouseinc.org/

Heart House opened 1998 in this community. On 3/15/2002 this 72 bed unit facility was established and has helped over 10K people. It is funded by local community members, donations, local businesses, the local government, and the state housing authority. I personally was touched by this home after donating clothing and home goods at the entrance there in the picture on the left near the playground. When I drove up there were women chatting, men standing, children playing, and babies sitting in the grass. The children were riding their bikes and the men were helping me unload. Initially, I felt nervous because I wasn't sure how they felt about me dropping off so much stuff, but then one of the women that had her baby in the grass yelled, "Hey lady thank you, God bless you, we really appreciate it." Others chimed in. It touched my heart so much I started crying. I imagined how hard it would be to be a young mom without support and with a baby and other children trying to work. How the sense of community and having a safe place for food, clothing, shelter, and support would mean to me. This place is such an asset to the community and a place of hope. I wasn't expecting it to pull on my heart the way it did and I plan to continue donating my gently used items to this shelter. -Angel Brewer
