It seems that there are many benefits of a facilitated person-centered employment. For many parties it creates a work- relationship (the employment specialist, support staff to the  candidate). This work- relationship bond has many layers like an English Trifle. The many layers of this English Trifle can be seen as the following: getting to know the candidate: what makes them unique, what are their passions, who are their support system( parents to siblings) , at-home care  staff, medical needs, what works or doesn’t work( can be seen as strengths and weaknesses) , to making accommodations so that candidate can be successful at work or in the community. The top layer of this Trifle should be seen as a goal making tool. How do you see them in 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, up to a year.  Having information of the candidate that is detailed does make it easier for the Employment Specialist to help find them a job that their candidate would like.

For the potential employer, a person-centered employment plan will make it much more likely that the employee will not only be qualified for the position, but also interested/passionate about the work.  Employees may often take a job because of external forces, just needing a paycheck etc - with a person-centered employment plan, the likelihood that the potential employee will actually be interested and passionate about the work would likely lead to greater productivity and retention - a huge benefit for the employer.

The provider will gain important insight on the potential employee.  This has the potential to speed up the process in the long run - while requiring work up front - freeing up resources in the future for more potential job seekers.

The main beneficiary of deliberate and consistent person-centered employment planning is, of course, the potential employee. By creating a space, with the proper accommodations, for frank and broad discussion will enable the entire team to learn more about the goals, skills and desires of the potential employee. It gives the employment specialist the ability to learn more specifics of the client, and gives a deeper understanding of all the aspects within a clients life. The specialist will have the opportunity to learn about the clients interests, what kind of support system they have(if any), their strengths, weaknesses, their future goals, and much more. Based on the information received, it’ll help the specialist determine what route to take in selecting employment. The more in depth we go as specialists, the more we can discover an individual’s abilities, their limits, ambitions, but we’re able to discover if they don’t have a support system how can we build one to help this individual become successful. We will be able to organize and format a plan centered around their goals, and future needs to ensure that this individual will be able to find what they are looking for or wishing for. We want to create an opportunity for our clients to build a future and reach their goals and by having a person-centered employment plan, it’ll help us to help them.

A person-centered employment plan helps an Employment Specialist in their work because it helps give a specific and holistic picture of who a person is and this kind of breadth and depth of context gives greater insight into what a great job placement would be. For example, if someone really loves to paint and immediately placed in a indoor house painting service and this person has a hard time focusing on the job - one might assume that they don't like painting. However in a person centered employment plan - it is discovered that this person prefers to be outdoors because many types of indoor lighting affect their emotional and mental wellness - we can know that this person would be better suited for a painting position that occurs outside. The more context and information we have - the better match we can create for someone who is seeking a job and for a place that is desiring dependable employees.
