Today in work experience I completed 2 hours 45 mins. During this time we all took part in a warmup up with The choreographer Jen. This was to warm up our bodies and brains. We then started to learn the Dance Rio piece that was choreographed by Jen. We all had to work as a team to help adapt the choreography for a mass number of people. Within the dance their are 2 colours which make a pair of people, blue and yellow. I am the yellow person in the pair and I had to learn alternate choreography to the blue pair.

Today in work experience I completed 4 hours. During this time we had a short warm up then went over the dance Rio choreography with lead choreographer Jen. I now know the choreography very well. We also had short discussions with the dance captains to make sure we know what we are doing when we are delivering the choreography out to the schools. We spoke about ways to approach different age groups. We also had a meeting about all the dates we will be needed in the future.

Today at work experience I completed 2 hrs. Today we performed at Mark Hall School as a group to showcase the dance Rio routine. We rehearsed the routine before and then performed to some of the primary school children that were taking part in The School games. The performance went well.

Today at work experience Matt and I travelled to Barking and Dagenham to help Lucy (lead artist) teach section 3 and 4 of the dance Rio dance project at Parsloes Primary school. Matt and I helped with the group of about 30 children as dance captins. We had to demonstrate the movement so that the children could copy our exact timing and move. We were supposed to help at 4 schools today but 3 cancelled so we only ended helping out at one. However it was a valid experience for both Matt and I.

Today in work experience we had a session of 5 and a half hours. During this time we started with a warm up and we then started to choreograph the forward commission that we will perform before the actual dance Rio dance. We worked as a group to make this up and Jen also helped us to improve what we had already done. We then broke for lunch. After lunch we then had a discussion with the dance artist Jen and Leader Gemma about what we would need to do at the mass rehearsals and at the performances. We learnt about vom stacking and how to answer questions from the school teachers.

Today was the mass rehearsal at Colchester football ground. Today consisted of 6 hours of work. We started the day by being assigned to our school group, I then introduced myself and took them to sit in the stadium. We then had a warm up with everyone (almost 300 people). Jen made an announcement to everyone and we ran the dance Rio dance. Jen them gave corrections to the mass and all the dance captians individually helped their school. My school knew the dance very well. The teachers asked me many questions of which I had to answer. We then had a short lunch break. After lunch we practised the vom stacking for the real performance and we then ran the dance again. Everyone worked really well together. Jen then made an announcement to the mass of people. All the dance captians then had a de brief with Jen and Gemma to make sure we are all comfortable and she gave us all notes.

Today was the performance at Colchester football ground and consisted of 6 hours of work. When we first got to the ground we had a briefing with Jen to make sure we all new what we were doing and then we had a short rehearsal of our forward commission. When our school groups arrived we went and got them and we had a warm up and a mass rehearsal. We then took our individual groups round to the stadium and took the children to the bathroom etc. We then went and sat down in the stadium. When it was half time we went and got our groups ready so that they could run onto the pitch. This didn't work out quite how Jen wanted it to in the right order however it wasn't a massive problem. We then all performed on the football pitch to a huge audience.
