DD method is having a more creative way to see the world and solve complex problems in a way that finds the root of the problem and fixes it. There are three parts to this method. Mining which is the way we go through different scenarios and do more research on and problem solving instead of going right to the solution. Landscaping which is the idea that we need to dive deeper to see everything that is at play with our problem. Building which is taking all the information and creating a solution that solves all the underlying problems.
Pg 3-5

Apple I believe was one of the top companies to show disruptive thinking. Apple thought about the underlying issues with music, phone, face to face communication. They started by solving the communication part by making the phone. The music part had been solved by them with their early devices, but the integrated that into the iphone. The first generation phone was so far ahead in its time but now they have up to the 11 series that can operate like a computer and we have ways to communicate face to face from far away. They continually took the mining and shaped the way we use technology by never stopping the building phase and making each product obsolete.

"Everything is interconnected" pg 10
"Change is constant" pg. 11

Mining is looking for the problems without searching for a solution. When mining it is key to see all the underlying factors that can be in the area we are searching. For example if I was to make a new ketchup flavor I would first search through all the problems with the current flavors before I start to come up with the solutions.

Pg. 18

I chose this image based on the idea that mining is about digging deeper than what is on the surface to create new ideas and a bigger scope then a simple solution. Mining should dive deeper and with diving deeper there will be more complex questions to find answers to. With the bigger questions being out there we can make the best solution that will solve all the problems and problems we now know about because we mined. An iceberg represents this the best because it shows one obstacle on the surface but if we look further the obstacle is not as simple as we would like to think.

"Define a problem, arena" pg. 27
"As you mine the problem arena, you identify the nodes,
elements, agents, and actors – the parts of the puzzle that make
up the complex whole. These become the elements used in the
systems mapping that you will do during the landscaping phase.
It’s through mining that the core components of a system are
identified. This is the phase in which you gather the insights to
build your robust system perspective." pg. 43

Qualitative research is displayed in watching someone use your product and having a human centered research. UX or User Experience is another way to say it. With having a someone use your design or watch them us others designs you can get a better understanding of the issues and the positives about the design.
