In Sunni Islam, the Hadith of Gabriel is a ninth-century hadith of the Islamic prophet Muhammad which expresses the religion of Islam in a concise manner. The second sign; is the person will see barefooted, lightly dressed, and poor people who are shepherds. They will see these people competing with one another in their buildings. The point here is you have these people who don’t have anything, they are very poor. Then suddenly the situation changes for them, and they are competing with one another over who can build the tallest building. They are competing to see who has the nicest car, the latest gadgets, etc.

Bounty of Allah

In the end, all of this is from the blessings of Allah (swt). Allah (swt) gives us so much and rather than being humble and grateful in front of Allah, we are arrogant and think that it is all from us. Righteousness, putting full effort and trying one's best will all eventually lead to success and wealth. But at the end of the day, we still have to acknowledge that no matter how much effort we put in, our wealth and success will always be in the hands and bounty of Allah. So, being successful and having wealth should give us more reasons to increase our humility and increase our gratitude towards our Lord.

Belief in Allah ;

Belief in Allah means that we believe at the existance of Allah as the creator of the entire universe. We need to trust that Allah is the only one who are worthy to be worshipped to.

Belief in Malikat ;

it's mean that we need to belief that Malaikat is the one of the most holiest creation across the whole universe. Their role are to worship to ALLAH.Malaikat (ملائكة) or angels are created of Light. They do not have any free-will and they obey Allah's commands to the letter without question, performing their specific roles. Their numbers are astronomical. Believing in their existence is one of the Pillars of Faith.

While there is an innumerable number of angels, we are required to know 10. These 10 have or will have very close relationship with us in view of their roles. They are:

1. Jibril (جبريل) or Gabriel, brings down revelations to the Prophets.

2. Israfil (إسرافيل‎) or Raphael, is the trumpet blower. He will blow the trumpet the first time to signify Qiamat (end of the world) and the second time to resurrect all for judgement at MAhsyar for Judgemen in front of Allah. This is revealed in the Quranic verse: "And the trumpet shall be blown, so all those that are in the heavens and all those that are in the earth shall swoon, except Allah; then it shall be blown again, then they shall stand up awaiting." — Qur'an (39.68)

3. Mikail (ميخائيل‎) or Michael, is the angel who delivers rezki (رزق) or sustenance, and all that is good for us - be it nourishment, rain, etc

4. 'Izra'il (عزرائيل), or Azrael, is the angel of death. He retrieves the soul from the body at exact moment that a person has been destined to die, as dictated by Allah, not a second more or second less. He does not have any power nor intention of his own - he does all at the Orders of Allah.

5 & 6. Kiraaman-Kaatibin (كراماً كاتبين‎) or the Honourable Recorders. One writes your good deeds while the other writes your bad deeds. Allah is Merciful to His creation. The moment a Muslim has just the intention to do good, the deed will already be recorded in the books, and this will be further added when he actually does do the good deed. However, when a person has a bad intention, none will be recorded until he actually does the bad deed. If he subsequently decideds not to proceed with the bad deed, this in itself constitutes a good deed, and will be written as such. I've to verify this with a hadith but the crux of the matter is this: God is so Merciful that He gives his creation all the opportunity, all the benefit of the doubt and does all for the favour of mankind so that they may enter his Paradise. But despite all the opportunities, look at what mankind has done.

Our book of deeds are updated twice a day, during Fajr and 'Asr. And once a year, during Nisfu Sya'aban (mid Sya'aban)

7 & 8. Munkar and Nakir (منكر و نكير). These angels question the dead in the grave. When they do so, it is not the person who answers, but his 'amalan (deeds) and his faith than answers for him. The questions are:

Who is your Lord?

Who is your Prophet?

What is your Religion?

Belief in kitab ;

we need to belief that in order to still track in the true path of life,we need to go align with the islamic teaching stated in the kitab that have been recognized by Allah which is Al-quran.

What is the Quran?

The most conventional answer is that the Quran is a book – but it is not like most books. It is made up of words which contain truth and guidance for every human being, and Muslims believe that these are words revealed directly by God, in the Arabic language, to the last of His prophets and messengers, Muhammad ﷺ (peace be upon him).

The Quran presents itself with a number of names and descriptions which are worth reflecting on. Here are just a few:

Quran and Kitab (Recital & Writ): the first means something recited aloud, and the second means something written down. This describes the two main ways this scripture is experienced, and which you can encounter on this website.

Kalam Allah (Divine Speech): this means that these words are a direct communication from the Creator and Master of every living being. It occupies the highest level of authority for its believers, and it is clarified and supported by the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ. While the language of this particular revelation was Arabic, we also have many translations into different languages which help us to understand its meanings.

Dhikr and Huda (Remembrance & Guidance): the Quran is used as a way to connect with God and keep Him in our hearts and on our tongues. It is also fundamentally a guide for our personal lives and for the life of the community and society.

The Quran is the final revealed message which complements and completes earlier revealed scriptures, just as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught the same essential message as the many prophets before him, including Adam, Noah, Moses, Abraham, and Jesus (peace be upon them all). The Quran clarifies what humanity needs to know from now until the Day of Judgment, and it will remain preserved from loss and distortion which affected previous scriptures in various ways.

"˹This is˺ a blessed Book which We have revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ so that they may contemplate its verses, and people of reason may be mindful." 38:29

We welcome you to Quran.com and invite you to read and listen to the Quran with an open heart, to deeply contemplate its verses, sincerely seek the knowledge contained within it, and to learn more using the resources on our site. We hope you will find Quran.com beneficial and pray that the message of the Quran will enrich your life’s journey.

What are some major themes in the Quran?

There are many themes and ideas explored in the Quran, but the major ones include:

The Oneness of God

The importance of worship and obedience to God

The existence of an Afterlife and the Day of Judgment

Guidance and wisdom for leading a righteous and moral life

The creation of the universe and all living things

The role of prophets and revelation in guiding humanity

The consequences of good and evil actions

The significance of social justice and fairness

These themes are interwoven throughout the Quran and serve as a guide for believers on how to live their lives in accordance with the will of God.

How do we know the Quran is authentic?

The Quran does not demand blind belief, but instead it invites all human beings to study, reflect and follow the evidence. These are some of the broad aspects which lead Muslims to be convinced of the truth and accuracy of the Quran as the revealed Word of God:

Historical: material and living evidence points to the fact that the Quran has been transmitted both orally and in writing from the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who announced at the age of forty (around 610 CE) that he was receiving revelation of these words from an angel sent by the One God. The content of this message together with the Prophet’s impeccable character, integrity and credibility created a believing community, at first in Arabia, which carried the Quran to all parts of the world.

Teachings: not only did the Quran create a revolution in the lives of the Arabs when it was revealed, but it continues to effect positive change for individuals and communities who follow its teachings. Together with the practical example and explanations of the Prophet ﷺ, the message is its own strongest proof that it comes from the Creator who knows what is best for creation.

Miracles: the Quran declares itself inimitable, and those eloquent Arabs who at first opposed its message found themselves unable to meet the challenge to come up with anything like it. This points to what is known as the literary miracle of the Quran, which means a level of eloquence beyond human ability. However, there are many dimensions to what makes the Quran unique and miraculous, and more is discovered as human knowledge expands.

Muslims believe that the Prophet Muhammad received the Qur’an, which is the most important Islamic holy book and the only one to contain the pure word of Allah.Muhammad is the final prophet in Islam, known as the ‘Seal of the Prophets’. This means that Muslims regard Muhammad as Allah’s final messenger. The Qur’an is formed from the revelations Muhammad received from God through the Angel Jibril. Muslims do not believe that Muhammad was in any way divine, and this is confirmed in the Qur’an, which states: Muhammad is no more than a messenger (Surah 3:144).

What is the meaning of qadha’ and qadar?

Answer:

Alhamdulillah, praise and thanks to Allah for the countless blessings He has blessed us all with. Blessings and salutations to the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, his wives, his family, companions and all those that follow his teachings to the day of judgement.

Qadha’

In Arabic, qadha’ means placing and deciding a certain ruling.

While from syarak’s perspective, qadha’ is something that has been decided by Allah SWT for all His creations, whether it is in terms of its creation, destruction or changes.

Qadar

In Arabic, qadar means setting something to a certain amount.

While in syarak, qadar is something that has been set at a certain amount since the beginning of time, so that it follows His knowledge which precedes everything.

The Differences Between Qadha’ and Qadar

Qadar is setting an amount or extent of something before deciding that it would happen. While qadha’ is making something happen according to a set condition. This means, qadar happens first before qadha’, both are complementary to each other and are inseparable.

Ibn al-Athir gave analogy of qadar as a base of a construction and qadha’ as a building being constructed on top of the base. Sayyid Sabiq in his book Aqidah Islam said, it has been stated numerous times in the Quran regarding the issue of qadar or fate, among them are:

Everything that happens is according to the will of Allah. Allah SWT state:

And everything with Him is by due measure.”

Surah al-Ra’d (8)

Al-Maraghi commented: Everything has its own limits set to it not going beyond or below it.

Everything created according to fate as stated by Allah SWT:

وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

“And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure.”

Surah al-Hijr (21)

Sayyid Qutb said: Only to Allah SWT will everything return to and every person will go back to his creator in its accurate time.

Everything is created as determined by Allah SWT in accordance with the statement of Allah SWT:

إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَـٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ

“Indeed, all things We created with predestination.”

Surah al-Qamar (49)

Al-Maraghi said: “Indeed, everything that happens in our lives in this world is the predetermined by Allah SWT and its formation is in accordance with the determination of His wisdom the All-Knowing and His law is comprehensive and suitable with the sunnah He has set on His creations.”

The conclusion that could be drawn from the above verse is that the meaning of qadar or fate is set laws created by Allah SWT for everything that is created by Allah SWT in this universe.

According to Islamic belief, no further prophets will come after Muhammad, as he communicated Allah’s final message to humankind: Say, [O Muhammad, to humankind]: If ye love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful (Surah 3:31).

In Islam, "hereafter" refers to the "life after death" or the "afterlife," known in Arabic as "Akhirah" (الآخرة), where individuals will be judged for their deeds on Earth and either rewarded with eternal paradise (Jannah) or punished in hell (Jahannam) based on their actions in this world; it's considered a core belief of the Islamic faith.

According to Islam, the present world is not an eternal abode. The Qur'an tells us that man is placed here only temporarily, so that his moral fibre may be tested in terms of his obedience to God's will. He must always remember that there will be the life hereafter, or Akhirat as it is known in Islamic terminology. This is also referred to as Ma'ad, which means a place to which one returns.

There is a time limit to mortal existence. Death marks the end of the testing period for all human beings. But death only means a change of abode, for the soul never dies. Man returns to the realm whence he came, so that he may wait for Judgement Day. That realm, the life hereafter, is the eternal world. Thus man's life is divided into two parts: a brief stay in this world and an eternal life in the next world. To the ungodly, it is only then that it becomes obvious that a life which is eternal is far more important than this present existence.

God created human beings and made them responsible for their actions by granting them freedom. If there were no Afterlife in which the good were rewarded and the bad punished, there would be no justice; in which case, it would appear meaningless to create people with a conscience and a sense of responsibility. But God is just and always acts justly. Hence it is the absolute demand of justice that there should be a Day of Judgement on which everyone is brought to book.

After death, human beings will, therefore, leave this present, ephemeral abode and, on the Day of Judgement, will enter another world, which will be eternal. When the time comes for the Last Reckoning, God will destroy this world and replace it with a permanent, everlasting world. All human beings will then be resurrected and brought before the Almighty to be judged. On that day, everyone will stand alone before God. Those who have done good deeds in the world they have left behind will be rewarded. Their reward will be paradise, a state of joy, happiness and peace.

The Qur'an states: "God has created death and life to test which one of you is best in conduct." (67:1)

Death is not the end of our lives; it is the beginning of our real life. Because our future fate is being decided on the basis of our present performance, we can either make use of our opportunities on earth to ensure a well-deserved place for ourselves in Paradise, or we can throw them away and condemn ourselves to punishment in Hell.

The belief in the Hereafter naturally has a great influence on the life of a believer. When he knows that God is watching all his actions, his behaviour will be responsible. He will always endeavour to lead his life in consonance with the will of God and will inevitably avoid any course which will incur God's displeasure.

Furthermore, the concept of the Hereafter gives a fuller meaning and purpose to the life of the believer. One who firmly believes in this concept will not give in to greed and other such worldly failings. He will not be a materialist, for he knows that this material life will surely come to an end with death, whereas there will be a whole eternity before him in the Afterlife, during which he will certainly rejoice in having paid due attention to the spiritual side of life on this earth

ihsan can be defined as an act of worship to Allah as if we believed that Allah see what we did.On the other hand,Ihsan is an arabic word derived from the word 'Ahsana' that means doing good to others. The word 'others' here not only reffers tomen but also to all the Allah's creation.

In Islam, Ihsan is considered a high rank of the three levels of religion, after Islam and faith. It means worshiping Allah as if you see Him; if you do not see Him, He sees you. It was reported in the Sunnah that the Prophet Muhammad, peace is upon him, said about the definition of Ihsan: “You worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, He sees you.” Narrated by Muslim and Ibn Majah.

And it was mentioned in the Qur’an, the words of Allah Almighty:﴿ Allah commands justice, Ihsan, and giving up to the kinship, and forbids the obscenity, and the goodness.

That is, Allah commands His servants to be just and fair in His right by unifying Him and not associating partners with Him, and in the ownership of His servants to give everyone who has a right his righteousness. He commands us to be kind in His right by worshiping Him, performing His obligations lawfully, and to creation in words and deeds.

He commands to give relatives what is in their relationship and their righteousness. And he forbids everything objectionable in word or deed, and what the Shari’a denies and disapproves of, such as unbelief and disobedience, and from oppressing people and transgressing them, and Allah – with this command and this prohibition – admonishes you and reminds you of the consequences; To remember Allah’s commands and Tantvawa them.

Likewise, the Almighty said: “Is the reward of goodness but goodness ۝” Surat Al-Rahman, meaning, is the reward for the one who does his best in this world but kindness to him with Paradise in the Hereafter?

And the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: “Allah has decreed goodness for everything.”

The said in Surah An-Nahl:

Allah enjoins justice and goodness and giving to kin and forbids indecency and evil.

Al-Saadi said: (Ihsan is a desirable virtue, and that is like benefiting people with money, body, knowledge, and other types of benefit, to the extent that benevolence is included in it to an animal that is eaten and others)

Allah said in Surah Al-Baqarah:

Meaning: (Be kind to the parents, and this applies to every kind that I say and do of what is kindness to them, and it is forbidden to offend the parents, or not to be kind and to offend; Ihsan without offense, and this is prohibited, but it should not be attached to the first, and the same is said in the relationship of relatives, orphans, and the needy, and the details of Ihsan are not limited to counting, but rather to the limit. Enjoining them with good, forbidding them from evil, teaching them knowledge, giving peace, cheerfulness, and other good speech. The ugly address of the people, even of the infidels.

And they said: And what Allah has brought you the last house, and do not forget your share of this world, and I do well, as Allah is suitable to you, and do not want the Lord.

Al-Shawkani said, explaining his saying: (And do good as Allah has done well to you):

The Almighty said: “Indeed, the mercy of Allah is close to the doers of good.” ~ [Al-A’raf: 56]

On the other hand,The word 'Adab' is commonly understood as the Islamic etiquette of having good manners and character. Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is known to be a person of the best etiquette and moral values concerning his relationships with Allah s.w.t, himself and others. There are many instances from historical accounts where Prophet Muhammad s.a.w showed excellence in character. When the Prophet’s wife Aisyah r.a described the etiquette of her beloved husband, she said,

“His character was the Quran”.

(Sahih Muslim)

In the Quran, Allah s.w.t. described the Prophet s.a.w.:

,وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ”

And you are truly an excellent standard of character.

Surah Al-Qalam(68:4)

In one of the hadiths, the Prophet mentioned that one of the main purposes for his appointment as a prophet is to perfect the moral character of the people. Prophet Muhammad s.a.w said:

“I was sent to perfect good character.”

(Sahih Muslim)

The Prophet s.a.w also said:

“The most perfect/complete believers in faith is he who is the best of them in manners.”

(Sunan At-Tirmizi)

By referring to the contents of the Quran and sayings of the Prophet s.a.w on Adab or good character, we will find that morality is highly regarded in Islam. This also shows that morality is deeply rooted in the principles of faith. The Islamic moral system encompasses every aspect of life, including one’s affairs and relationship with the self, others and ultimately with The Creator. Therefore, having good morals will benefit us in ways that strengthen our faith.

In the discussion of having good manners, people tend to focus more on their dealings with others. However, I would like to firstly emphasise the Adab with The Creator, as the basis of our manners before proceeding to the other aspects of manners.

Imam Al-Ghazali rahimahullah (May God Bless Him) mentioned about observing Adab in our conduct with Allah s.w.t in his book ‘The Beginning of Guidance’, stressing the point that Adab towards Allah means to refrain ourselves from any disobedience in our actions and sayings:

“Know that your disobedience against Allah s.w.t with your physical body, while it is a bounty from Allah and a trust to you, and using it to disobey Him is the ultimate ingratitude. And your betrayal of Him entrusting you (with your physical body) that he has placed on you is the ultimate transgression. Indeed, the parts of your body are your subjects, so pay attention to how you govern them.”

In Islam, adab (etiquette) toward neighbors is an important aspect of good character and social harmony. The Quran and Hadith emphasize kindness, respect, and generosity toward neighbors, regardless of their religion or background. Here are some key teachings on adab toward neighbors:

1. Being Kind and Respectful

• Islam teaches that a Muslim should always speak kindly and act respectfully toward their neighbors.

• The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him be kind to his neighbor.” (Sahih Muslim)

2. Avoiding Harm

• A Muslim should never harm or disturb their neighbors, whether through words, actions, or negligence.

• The Prophet (ﷺ) warned:

“By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer!”

When asked who he was referring to, he said:

“The one whose neighbor does not feel safe from his harm.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

3. Helping and Supporting Them

• A Muslim should assist their neighbor in times of need and offer help when possible.

• The Prophet (ﷺ) encouraged sharing food, saying:

“If you cook some stew, add more water and give some to your neighbor.” (Sahih Muslim)

4. Respecting Their Rights

• This includes giving them privacy, not spying, not being nosy, and not interfering in their affairs unless invited.

• Keeping noise levels down and ensuring that one’s home or property does not cause inconvenience to the neighbor is also part of adab.

5. Exchanging Greetings and Maintaining Good Relations

• Islam encourages maintaining friendly relations by greeting neighbors with salaam, checking on their well-being, and showing concern for them.

6. Being Just and Fair

• One should never oppress or treat neighbors unfairly in any way, whether in business, land

Following these principles strengthens community bonds and reflects a true

islamic character

📖 Week 2: Reasons & Sources of ʿIbādah in the Qur’an

📌 Why Do We Worship?

Every command in Islam has wisdom and brings benefit in this life and the next. These verses show why key acts of worship matter:

🕌 1. Solat – A Moral Guide

"Prayer keeps you away from immorality and wrongdoing..." (Surah Al-‘Ankabūt 29:45)

Solat is not just movements. When done with focus (khushuʿ), it reminds us of Allah and helps us avoid bad actions. A sincere prayer makes us feel guilty before doing wrong.

🌙 2. Fasting – Gaining Taqwa

"Fasting is prescribed for you… so that you may gain taqwa." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183)

Fasting teaches us self-control and reminds us of those in need. It cleanses our body and soul, helping us become more aware of Allah.

Hadith: “Whoever fasts Ramadan with faith and hoping for reward will have their past sins forgiven.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

💰 3. Zakat – Purifying Wealth and Heart

"Take charity from their wealth to purify them..." (Surah At-Tawbah 9:103)

Zakat is not just giving money—it purifies the heart from greed. It also helps the poor and reminds us that wealth is a gift from Allah, not something we own fully.

🕋 4. Hajj – A Journey of the Heart

"The best provision is taqwa..." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:197)

Hajj removes worldly differences like race and status. Through its rituals, we remember the prophets and renew our connection with Allah.

Hadith: “Whoever does Hajj without sinning will return like a newborn—free from sins.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

🌟 Conclusion: Worship Changes Us

Every act of worship—daily or once in a lifetime—brings us closer to Allah, makes us better people, and fills our lives with taqwa, mercy, and wisdom.

"The most honored person in Allah’s sight is the one with the most taqwa." (Surah Al-Hujurat 49:13)

🧕🏻 Week 4: Virtues Found in Ṣalāh with Khushūʿ

📌 How Focused Prayer Builds Good Character

🎙 Based on Surah Luqmān (31:12–19)

This week, we learned how praying with khushūʿ (deep focus and humility) helps us develop good values that go beyond prayer and shape our daily life. We also reflected on the wise advice of Luqmān to his son, which teaches important lessons that match the spirit of a sincere prayer.

🌿 1. Al-Ṭāʿah – Obedience to Allah

Luqmān reminds us to thank Allah. In the same way, when we pray with khushūʿ, we show loyalty and submission to Allah, accepting His commands with trust and humility.

🔥 2. Al-Jihād – Struggle for Allah

Luqmān tells his son to be patient in prayer. This reminds us of the struggle we go through to pray with focus every day. It takes effort and consistency — this is part of our personal jihād.

🪞 3. Muḥāsabah – Self-Reflection

Luqmān says that even the smallest deed matters. In prayer, we think about our actions and check our intentions. This helps us stay honest, aware, and sincere.

🚫 4. ʿIffah – Modesty and Control

Luqmān warns against pride. Prayer teaches us to stay humble, speak kindly, and avoid sinful actions. True khushūʿ helps us guard our words, eyes, and hearts.

🌾 5. Tawaḍḍuʿ – Humility

Luqmān tells his son to walk humbly and lower his voice. Sujūd (prostration) reminds us that we are low and Allah is the Highest. Prayer teaches us to stay grounded and humble.

✨ Hikmah (Wisdom):

Surah Luqmān and ṣalāh with khushūʿ both teach us powerful values like gratitude, patience, and humility. Prayer isn’t just a duty — it transforms our hearts and brings us closer to Allah.

Fasting isn’t just about skipping food—it’s a way to purify our soul, build self-control, and connect with others.

🌙 1. What Is Ṣawm?

Allah says fasting is for us to gain taqwa (God-consciousness). It was practiced by those before us too.

Through fasting:

We control our desires

We cut off distractions

We return to sincerity and discipline

Allah also reminds us that He wants ease, not hardship, in our worship.

🕌 2. Good Values We Learn from Fasting

🧘‍♀️ Ṣabr – Patience

Fasting teaches patience—not only with hunger, but also with anger and temptation. It helps us stay calm, strong, and disciplined in daily life.

💞 Raḥmah – Compassion and Caring for Others

By feeling hunger, we learn empathy for the poor. It encourages us to be kind, to feed others, and to come together as an ummah.

🎖 Takrīm – Respect and Appreciation

Fasting also teaches us to honor and support others. We learn to speak kindly, encourage each other, and build a community based on respect.

🌟 Wisdom (Hikmah):

Fasting isn’t just about the body—it’s a spiritual cleanse. It helps us:

Control our nafs

Feel Allah’s mercy

Care for our community

Grow in patience and compassion

💵 Week 6: The Benefits of Zakāh and Ṣadaqah

📌 Reflection from Surah Al-Tawbah (9:100–106) & Surah Al-Zalzalah (99:7–8)

This week, we focused on how Zakāh (obligatory giving) and Ṣadaqah (voluntary charity) help us grow spiritually and build a caring Muslim community.

💰 1. What Are the Benefits of Zakāh and Ṣadaqah?

🌿 Tazkiyyah – Purifying Our Soul and Wealth

Allah tells the Prophet to collect charity to cleanse people (Surah Al-Tawbah 9:103). Zakāh removes greed from the heart. It reminds us that money is a trust from Allah, not fully ours. Giving purifies our soul and helps us grow spiritually.

🤲 Tawakkul – Trusting Allah

When we give for Allah’s sake, we learn to rely on Him, not money.

🕋 Week 7: Lessons from Ḥajj and Sacrifice

📌 Reflection from Surah al-Baqarah (2:195–204)

This week, we reflected on the meaning behind Ḥajj (pilgrimage) and Taḍḥiyyah (sacrifice). These acts are not just rituals—they help us grow spiritually and become closer to Allah.

🕋 1. What’s the Link Between Ḥajj and Sacrifice?

Ḥajj is a journey of giving up everything for Allah—wealth, time, comfort, and ego.

The sacrifice of animals during Eid al-Adha reminds us of Prophet Ibrāhīm’s deep love and obedience to Allah. It teaches us to submit and let go of worldly attachments.

📝 “Sacrifice brings us closer to Allah by purifying our hearts.”

🌙 2. How Ḥajj Leads to Taqwā (God-consciousness)

📖 “Take provisions, but the best provision is taqwā…” (2:197)

By performing Ḥajj with sincerity—like standing in ‘Arafah or circling the Kaʿbah—we learn to rely only on Allah. Ḥajj trains the heart in humility, patience, and devotion.

🕊 The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever performs Ḥajj without sin will return like a newborn (free of sins).”

— [Bukhari & Muslim]

🎭 3. Our Ḥajj Simulation

We acted out the steps of Ḥajj to understand their meaning:

Iḥrām – Begin with a pure heart and intention

Ṭawāf – Circle the Kaʿbah as a sign of unity with Allah

Saʿī – Run between Ṣafā and Marwah like Hājar, showing effort and hope

Wuquf at ‘Arafah – Reflect, pray, and seek forgiveness

Stoning the Jamrah – Reject Shayṭān and stay strong in faith

Mabīt – Sleep in simple places (Mina, Muzdalifah) and reflect

Taḥallul – End the pilgrimage, feeling cleansed and renewed

🌟 Hikmah (Wisdom):

Ḥajj is a journey that cleanses the soul and teaches us humility. It reminds us we are all equal before Allah. Sacrifice and worship during Ḥajj help us build taqwā and return to Allah with a soft, sincere heart.

Solat is the most essential act of worship in Islam, and performing it with khusyuʿ—deep focus, humility, and full presence of the heart—is what gives it true spiritual value. Khusyuʿ turns solat from a routine into a sincere act of devotion that strengthens our relationship with Allah. It helps us feel the greatness of Allah, stay aware of His mercy, and reflect on our purpose as His servants. Without khusyuʿ, solat may become just physical movements, but with it, the heart connects directly with the Creator.

Besides spiritual rewards, solat also brings many physical and mental benefits. Physically, the movements in solat (such as bowing and prostrating) improve blood circulation, stretch the muscles, and promote good posture. The regular act of wudhu (ablution) also promotes cleanliness and refreshes the body.

Mentally, solat is a powerful stress reliever. When a person prays with sincerity, it calms the heart and mind. The structured nature of solat, done five times a day, brings balance, discipline, and inner peace. It also helps in managing anxiety and negative thoughts by reminding us that Allah is in control and always near.

In conclusion, solat with khusyuʿ not only brings us closer to Allah, but also improves our physical well-being and mental strength. It is truly a gift from Allah that benefits us in both this life and the next.
