The design, which displays numerous symbolic elements on its monumental facades, stands in purposeful contrast to the functional Modernist architecture that was dominant at the time.

It’s a symmetrical block with four off-white, stucco-covered rectangular facades featuring reinterpreted Classical elements, such as over-scaled keystones, pilasters and belvederes. Furthermore, Graves added symbolism through color—green for the ground, blue for the sky, etc—in order to visually tie the building to its environment and location.

The Berjaya Times Square is reputed to be the largest building ever built in a single phase in the world and with its modern architectural style, is often seen in the same light with the Petronas Twin Towers by virtue of its double-building structure. Apart from that, it has its European style walls and brown-brick personality while at the front entrance of the Berjaya Times Square are several large pillars which has been seen in many postmodern architectural styles.

 The museum was meant to be built as daring and innovative challenging many architectural norms .the curves on the exterior of the building were intended to appear random and were made from titanium to catch the light. The Guggenheim was Gehry’s most prominent project and while he resisted the postmodernist label, and any labelling of his work, the architect played with traditional notions of what a building could be. exact representation of there is no absolute truth to a design.

Menara tabung haji is considered as one of the masterpiece of malaysian post modernism architecture designed by hijjas bin kasturi,combining malay-islam culture and modernity. what attracts me to this architectural design is the shape which was can depicts an hourglass,"gendang" and a "tabung".even with the radical design, it also shows islam in many ways like five pillars of islam, and many more and is consider a masterpiece of malaysian post modernism.whats really rare for a post modernism art is using local motif as inspiration but still create a n against the norm design.

This architectural design looks post modern to me because it defies the rule of efficient use of space which usually could be achieved by using cubes and squares and some other geometrical shape. But in this Dancing House, it is distorted in a way that it looks more like a sculpture (deconstructivist) . Among the designers of this building is afforementioned Frank Gehry. This design was more focused on visual interest and being different  than  other local public centres.Unlike in the first post, for me in one glance this design does not really have the features of a building.The abstract use of simple sharp geometries is rarely found in Malaysia back in 2005. For me, it looks futuristic enough ahead of it's time . It doesnt really have any traditional malaysian motives since it was built by Singaporean architectural firm. The dancing house during it's designing phase was controversial except to it's president, who entirely support the project. While for starhill gallery, it does'nt really have obvious backlash probably  because Malaysian at those times are really into something new. The style/visual in this building is definitely contrast with the norm of others building, its rarely  symmetric but still balanced and orderly which is one of the characteristic of post modern style. The architects took almost 16 years to complete this venue until at early 20 century. Located on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, the complex is really two main concert halls, side-by-side, on the waterfront of Sydney, Australia. Officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in October 1973, the famous architecture was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2007 and also was a finalist for the New Seven Wonders of the World. UNESCO called the Opera House "a masterpiece of 20th century architecture."

Found out that the outcomes from the both building is they almost have the same visual style, which is there is also others critics saying that they looked at Istana Budaya as they looked at Sydney Opera House. Both of these building/venue mostly conducting a cultural activities that specifically about cultural activity in their own culture. So i bet there is a lot of visual cultural elements was extracted for visual looks of these building. Based on the characteristic that showed in post modern design,  which is fragmentation, these building also comes in diff function from part by part that they have in their building. Challenging the status quo and veering off the beaten path, this home became a testing ground for the architects to explore their ideas about complexity and contradiction.


From the very first approach, there is something unusual about the home: the prominent gable roof appears almost like a classical pediment, combined with the weighty chimney poking out behind the slit in the facade. Contradiction emerges in the sense of scale. Inside, even more so than on the exterior, some things appear too big, while others are unexpectedly small.

This building looks aesthetics and unique as well.
