The rebellion

The pigs, particularly Napoleon and Snowball, take the lead, developing the principles of Animalism and preparing the other animals for the uprising. The farm is renamed "Animal Farm," and the Seven Commandments, based on Old Major's teachings, are written on the barn wall.

The bad

Napoleon takes the puppies to train. He later uses the grown dogs to take power of animal farm and become a dictator. These two pigs constantly debate each other and almost never agree.

Battle of Cowshed

Concerned that the revolution might inspire their own animals, neighboring farmers Mr. Pilkington and Mr. Frederick spread rumors about Animal Farm’s inefficiency and the animals' moral decline. In response, the animals celebrate their rebellion but soon face an attack from Mr. Jones and his men, leading to the Battle of the Cowshed.

The windmill

The execution

Battle of the windmill

The animals finish the windmill, and about twenty of Frederick's men attack and blow it up with dynamite. When the battle ends, the animals have retained control of the farm, but many are dead or wounded. Squealer tries to reassure everyone that the victory was better than it actually was.

The workhorse Boxer is injured while building a windmill. He continues to work so hard that his health rapidly declines. The ruling pigs lie about Boxer dying in a hospital and instead sell him to a slaughterhouse to buy a crate of whiskey.

Manor farm

The pigs and dogs have become increasingly like humans, while the other animals continue to suffer. The pigs now walk on their hind legs, dress in human clothing, and drink alcohol. The farm is renamed Manor Farm, and the pigs are indistinguishable from the human farmers. The animals, especially the younger ones, have lost sight of the original ideals of the rebellion.
