After WW11, several countries created the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. There were several ethnic groups that had tensions between them. During the war, several armed forces committed abuses. For example, Croats helped Germany kill Gypsies and Jews. After their president died in 1980, the different ethnic groups wanted independence. In 1991, the republics Slovenia and Croatia declared independence. The Yugoslav army, which was mostly Serbians, invaded Croatia and committed mass executions of Croat men. They did this to preserve the Serbian minority in Croatia. This was known as "ethnic cleansing". The world responded with providing humanitarian aid instead of confronting the cruelties and killings against the civilians. Similarities between this and the holocaust are they both conducted mass executions, called it "ethnic cleansing", and used confinement in concentration camps.

The Burma’s Muslim Rohingya minority civilians has been mistreat by the Burmese military by mass killing, sexual violence, and forced displacement. Violence broke out in Burma since August 2017 and is still going on. The Burmese military Believe that this is ethnic cleansing and this is an okay thing. This is a lot like the holocaust because during the holocaust the nazis believed what they were doing was right and it was ethnic cleansing and so does the Burmese military. the simon-skjdot center have had great concern about this and has been looking for evidence to prove what the Burmese are doing is wrong.

But as the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) conquered territory in northern Iraq, the United States announced a limited military reaction to the conflict. On August 7, 2014, US President Barack Obama announced that the United States would act to prevent genocide on the mountain. Air strikes followed in support of the Kurdish Peshmerga and Iraqi Army, which opened up a route to escape from the mountain. Along with the US, other countries are putting forth their resources to prevent another genocide.
Similarities between Iraq and the Holocaust?

The people all lived constantly in fear because the could be constantly attacked, kidnapped, or killed.

-In 2003 General.Francois Bozize seized control of the Government as president until 2013.
-When he came to power he wasn't doing much for the nation and the security of the nation was down so a rebel group known as Seleka overthrew the president and were killing citizens trying to seize power. But, another group Anti-Balaka Started killing the first group who were mostly Muslims. This group went onto target Muslim citizens as they were trying to cleanse the nation from ethical problems.
-This effected the country at large because the violence disrupted the ability to plant and harvest crops so some 1.1 million people faced food shortages as of 2013.
-The response was that the united nations sent about 32,000 troops to help disarm and stop the people who were killing them.

SyriaResponse- Western nations such as the united states have been supporting Syria for them to be able to be a democracy. The United States, and many Arab states against ISIS in August, ISIS fighters were struck in Syria. Troops entered to help give transportation, and supply for refugees. Many refugees are children. But many people have failed to protect Syria. In both situations of genocide, many of the people being affected from these situations of genocide are affecting children and certain races and ethnicities groups are also being affected.
