Nature acts as a silent teacher in the development of a child's mental and physical ability. The exploration with natural materials always gives immense benefits. To deal with several types of diseases among children such as obesity, depression and so on, nature works as an therapy by attracting them to indulge in some outdoor activities. Nature is everywhere, even outside or inside of one's house in the form of water, wind, plants. So, it is significantly important to investigate some of common components of nature such as twigs, leaves, rocks, flowers, soil, light, and water to understand their role to elaborate early education in young ones.

I chose different size of twigs from a big tree near my residential place. Firstly, I started thinking what one can do with these sticks, then immediately I remembered that my siblings used to play with twigs in their childhood. They considered it as magic stick when playing a role of princess or wizard. Then I came up with an idea of making a cute flag with the help of this natural material.
I broke twigs of two equal size and joined with a black thread from their ends. Then I took a leaf and tied it with thread on the joint. It came up with shape of flag, and also could be crown of a leader in a drama.

The Shaun McNiff (2008) stated that when creating something unique with natural material one does not know what exactly to make or what could be the perfect output. It is all about making new art forms with materials and come up with new ideas. Art is always unique. The Davies (2014) suggested that reasoning about something is a main feature of early childhood. It provides children a chance to perform according to their ideas. For example, creation with twigs give them the idea of making drama and artwork.

I gathered 3 to 4 different flower petals from a small lawn which was already separated from stems. Firstly, when I looked upon that colorful flowers the emotion of happiness came into my mind. I really wanted to do something great with these nature elements. Then I decided to make a piece of artwork on a white plain paper. I divided the hibiscus flower into four parts, then made crown of it on the top part, then by scrunching the black petals, the eyes were made.

Soil is the basic natural element. It was easily available in my small kitchen garden. I wanted to make something with a clumsy texture, but the red soil was quite dry. I heated it on very low temperature to make it a bit smoother and added minimal amount of water, but still the soil got scattered in little thick parts. After that I came up with an idea of making a piece of art with red soil. I took a plain white sheet and with the help of waste plastic bottle cap, put some soil around it. The green waste cap was used as a stencil to create a beautiful design.

Music is everywhere in nature. I make children understand in an open environment where birds are chirping, due to wind leaves making pleasant sounds. While walking around the garden, educators will ask some questions such as where that sound comes from to grab children’s attention. I will prepare a setup with waste plastic bottles, twigs, rocks, seashells. It will be a new learning experience for children when they explore such things according to their imagination

The art cannot be packed in a clean box. According to Stengers (2009), the formation of something unique with clumsy texture gives children and educators both unique ideas and gives them a pathway towards new inventions. Every piece of material acted in a different way.

To observe children’s learning experiences in the form of art in an early childhood sector, I would like to construct a play-based learning with help of natural components soil. For this activity, white glue sticks, plane sheets, and various types of soil are needed. This task is going to emphasize their physical movements and strengthen their memory. The children are asked to draw their first letter of name, any number, any shape or what comes into their mind with white glue and pour some soil of their own choice on a piece of beautiful white paper. The educator will also take part with children to encourage them. This way, their imaginations lead them to invent something innovative.

Throughout this digital visual journal, I did experimentations with lot of natural elements such as flowers, twigs, natural color dye from turmeric etc. By exploring artistic artwork towards such components, I got a chance to spend time with nature. I discussed these creations in early childhood learning and some implications for practice, so that children understand the connection between life and nature. Art is a crucial part of the curriculum because it provides immense freedom towards creativity and confidence. The indulgence of children with natural components let them aware regarding language of music, movement, art, and drama, which are necessary for maintaining rich and multidisciplinary environment in childhood areas. Overall, it is on account of early childhood leader to arrange such activities which reflect children’s interest and perspectives strongly, which promotes their imaginations and gives them a healthy and confident environment.
