There are 20 people who have been tried and mostly because of witchcraft. This document names several witches including Margaret Pearson who has been tried three times, the first time for murder by witchcraft, the second time for bewitching a neighbor, and the third time for bewitching a horse.Following these trials, they were nicknamed "The Witches of Samlesbury".

Analysis : At the time, people were afraid of wizards and witches, so they were very suspicious and that was why there were many trials. There were people who were accused although they did nothing wrong. For us, these trials seem useless.

Step 2 : Witches are judged and trials are carried out.

TRES BON TRAVAIL - complet et précis.

This document is a website. The title is « Spooky symbilism ». It was written on September 30th, 2016.
We don’t know the author.

• BATS
Bats are associated with mystery, evil, death and supernatural. When the Celts celebrated the end of the harvest on October 31, they would light bonfires to keep evil spirits at bay. This practice would attract insects and, in turn, bats. That’s where the link between bats ans halloween comes from.

• SPIDERS
Spiders are often associated with magic and supernatural in many folk story and also be linked to danger or fear. The linked with Halloween is that the cobwebs are a natural accompainement to Halloween : their presence instantly evokes a creepy feeling.

• WITCHES
We recognize the witch with her pointy hat, her wart on her hooked nose, and she’s often seen riding her broomstick past a full moon. Witches are hallowen's most iconic symbols.

•SKELETONS AND GHOSTS
Skeletons and ghosts have their roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. The party took place on the night of October 31, marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the dark and cold winter. It was, in essence, a day of the dead. That's why the symbols of death, such as cemeteries and haunted houses, are so ubiquitous in Halloween. Skeletons and ghosts are also symbolic reminders of the afterlife, death and human mortality.

•VAMPIRES
Vampires are symbols of Halloween. These creatures are synonymous with horror and undead. They live during the night and drink the blood.

• BLACK CATS
Halloween black cats are often associated with a witch. Black color is often associated with death, bad luck, mystery and evil. They have bright eyes like orbs and black fur, they add a spooky touch to Halloween images.

• THE JACK-O’-LANTERN
Originally, pumpkins was not used. It waw turnip or potatoes. But irish migrants found when they went in America that the pumpkins were more adapted.
