Finn Foley is a twelve year old boy who accedently brought his sisters lunchbox to school. When he opened it he was sucked into a portal that took him across the universe to another planet, but another piece of the portal was glued permenetly in his chest. He decided to keep it a secret between his friends. The hard thing about it is that it's his sisters favorite lunchbox.

Finn saw a seven foot robot come through the portal and its name was Highbeam, he explained to Finn the reason why he was here, it was to protect the portal from other planets. That meant Finn had to hide Highbeam from his mom,and his sister.

Highbeam is like a dad to Finn throughout the book because Finn's dad left him and his family not to long ago which makes Finn some times act out in school. Finn hates getting in trouble but he can't help it, and when he does his mom gets mad at him for doing so.

When these alien like grasshoppers invade Earth, Finn, Kate, his friends, and the good aliens all try to protect Earth and try to get rid of the army once and for all. The group formed a plan to take down the army's mother ship Finn was going to take everyone to their positions inside the ship and take out all the guards.

Finn and the intergalactic lunchbox and Al Capone Does my shirts, both have main characters that hate being in trouble. Although their genre is not the same, the books both have its main character in a tough situation.

In Finn and the Intergalactic lunchbox, Finn struggles with a device that is glued onto his body. The device is something so powerful it make everyone in the whole universe wants! Which makes Finn very stressed out because he has to keep it a secret.

A lesson learned in the book would be no matter how hard the situation is, you should always ask for help if you need it. This is shown when the republic tries to invade Earth Finn did not ask for help which he ended up almost dying! At that point he asked for help from anybody that could help.

All of Finns struggles have to do with his dad leaving and not returning. I could see this when the author explains that the reason why he's acting out in school is because of his dad leaving his mom.
