One example would have to be the election of 1960 itself. One reporter for the New York Herald Tribune had found something fishy within the voters of the election. 
He had traveled to Chicago to obtain a list of risky voters. When he tracked down the sketchy names to where they live it brought him to cemeteries which proves one  of the runners had used fake voters to rig the election. Later these voters were found to be pulled from John F.
