WOW, I had Ms. Stith either the first year or 2nd year. I am a 1981 graduate and had her my junior year for Research Paper. The TOUGHEST class (next to Algebra) I took at PC, but...I honestly believe that helped me with things I had to do for my husband who ran for political office.

Ms. Stith, Thank you and God bless.
Anna Maria (Lopez) Butler '81

I always think of you when I think of my years at PC. Research Paper, AP Literature and Drama...your classes were very far from easy but I learned so much from you! To this day, every once in a while, I will start to recite: “Look Peter, the sky. What a lovely day. Aren’t the clouds beautiful?” My two younger sisters also remember that monologue after all these years. What makes me smile the most though: “MS. SCHWARTZ!! PLEASE REMOVE THAT DISGUSTING PIECE OF CUD FROM YOUR FRONTAL ORIFICE!!”
Thank you for everything you taught me and for the imprint you have made on so many young women. It’s truly priceless.

I wish you all the best for the next chapter in your life-

Kristin Schwartz
Class of 1989

Ms. Stith,
You were a major part of my learning, as well as my sister’s (class of ‘83).
AP English was not easy, but absolutely memorable. For Halloween one year I wore a turtleneck, knee high boots, and makeup & jewelry from the 60s. You looked at me, stopped in your tracks and took a moment to graciously say: “You remind me of my youth.”
I am still impressed that to this day, even with the changes that have happened to language and grammar due to texting, my fellow PC sisters always have excellent grammar when we communicate!
I wish you all the best, thank you for making so many women that much stronger.
Ms. Denise Lopez, 1989

You were one of my favorite parts of high school. I will always be grateful to you for having your heart and arms open for hugs and kindness. Even when you were stressed out or not feeling well, you had patience for me and my sleepy, needy, talkative ways. You offered a quiet sanctuary when I needed it in that little room with two beds and a cross, but you also offered love and light in your laughter and smiles. It felt like a privilege spending time with you in the nurse's office when I wasn't in need of care, and I appreciated your help even as a bratty teenager. We still talk about you in my family as the lady who always let me conk out and take a nap after school while waiting for my mom to pick me up. You were legendary for your understanding and compassion. I'm so lucky and grateful to have shared four years with you, and I feel sad for those who won't get to- you are a beautiful person to know. You deserve your rest and relaxation, so I hope you get a lot of it! I love you, Ms. Brown.
-Taylor Uster

You were the first person to greet me at 7 AM (often times a little before 7 AM) as I walked through the doors of PC - and you always did it with a huge smile and a big hug. I am grateful for all the little moments we spent together in the front office- feeding your fish, rummaging through the closet, sharing stories about our pets, resting in the extra room when I was unwell, teaching me how to use the intercom, and the list goes on and on. You are the heart and soul of PC and my family and I are so incredibly grateful for you. Thank you for caring for me and my sisters as if we were your own daughters. We love you and are praying for you as you ease into a well deserved retirement. We hope to see you very very VERY soon! God bless you!

Love and hugs,
Leeann Francisco, 2016

I can't put my finger on it, but I often catch myself smiling or laughing when I reminisce about sitting in your classroom during our AP Literature and AP Language classes. Perhaps it was how you could randomly quote Shakespeare or how we were all motivated by the end of the year tea party (clotted cream included!). Thank you for changing my life, changing how I think about literature, and changing how I think about the world. Your hard work did not go unnoticed and you deserve all the praise. As you head into a new chapter of your life, may God keep you safe and well. Take care and I hope to see you very soon!!

Love and hugs,
Leeann Francisco, 2016

My favorite memories are, without a doubt, competing in the Cal Poly Pomona Shakespeare Festival during my four years at Pomona Catholic. You are not only an outstanding teacher but also an amazing actress and director. I can recite lines from The Scarlet Letter and King Lear thanks to you. Thank you for your beautiful contribution to educating women. May God bless you in your retirement.
With gratitude,
Vanessa Batista McQuiggan
Class of 1999

You are one of the most influential academic role models in my life. As a student I was in awe of you and learned that a woman could be single, an expert in her field, maintain high expectations for all her students, and yet possess a wealth of other interests and qualities. The single part was important to me at the time. You showed us that women had choices, depth of thought, and diversity in their interests and aspirations. Thank you for being a role model for me and many other young women.
All the best,
Ann Marie Batista
Class of 1987
