I can say that my ideas about teaching young learners did not change but they became clearer and I feel like they have a more sound base now then before. Now it is clear for me that I personally should provide more social  interaction in my students' learning experience through pair and group work or in any way that would support their communication skills. I also realized that I have to scaffold my each and every student according to their needs and that they acquire language gradually in their own personal way. I think, there are too many writing exercises in our coursebooks like fill in the blanks, answer the questions, write the words...etc. which I personally find very time consuming. I observe most  of the children don't like writing activities. So I would suggest to omit them. We can also modify writing activities and put them into a more child friendly form like matching, circling, drawing, coloring, tracing...Another suggestion for a change in our coursebooks can be adding in more chants and songs to promote children's oral skills. Children love them and listen them carefully and learn the lyrics easily.

How can PDCs help you with that issue?

PDCs can help us when exploiting our coursebooks because we can share with our colleagues what supplementary material and/or adaptation goes well in class with a particular topic in these meetings. We can talk about the change in teaching and learning after the adaptation.

Yes, absolutely. I think shared reading is an effective procedure to use with L2 children. Children need support when learning reading in L2, too. They do not have to understand each and every word in the text. Teacher's role is to make reading more meaningful, purposeful and also enjoyable through interactive activities. One of the benefits of L2 shared reading for children is they learn listening which is an esential skill in acquiring a new language. Also, listening to teacher's reading aloud exposes them to more natural English. Story telling is an excellent shared reading activity and it helps children to remember vocabulary more easily. Yes, I totally agree that maintaining a balance between children's enjoyment and acceptable behaviour in primary classes is a challenge that we face.
I think children misbehave especially when they feel insecure. If they know what is going to happen in the lesson they go with the flow. Therefore before I start a lesson I inform  the children about what we will do in the lesson. Also I try to challenge children appropriately so that they feel they can succeed in English lesson. If an activity is too difficult they may draw themselves back and cause trouble in class. I try to use praise especially for their effort to do something, not too often. After we do some activity that is challenging, we do another activity that they will enjoy. If I get angry,I tell them it is their behaviour that I don't like. I try to encourage good behaviour if they are doing something good. I also think lesson planning is key to classroom management. A well planned lesson may decrease the classroom management problems therefore helping us to maintain a balance between enjoyment and acceptable behaviour.

Are there any other elementi of classroom management in your PDCs that you will have to think about?
To manage the PDCs positively I could use the different grouping techniques that you display us in our sessions. Today we saw 2 diferansiyel ones that I liked very much. Flight Destinations and 4 Pandas. Flight Destinations was like a stirrer, ss moved all the time however the teacher led them and he was in control of the groups and changed them. 4 Pandas, on the other hand, was like a settler,and when other 3 groups were having a rest (sleep) , ss sometimes also need to rest in class, one group focused in silence what they will do.
My concern about the PDC meetings is how can I get the teachers to be more involved in these meetings. Some of them may prefer to attend meeting and then go. PDCs want teachers to engage and share and finally produce something together. I knew English tests done at schools did not provide a right picture of children's ability in language and communication. Actually I realized that I was much often doing assessment for learning with my primary students. I never forced them to do multiple choice tests however once in a term because of the exam based educational system they had to do multiple choice tests for all subjects, English,too. In our local area we do not have much time allocated for this exchanging and sharing experiences and ideas. Therefore I think they will be useful for them. The PDC sessions that we studied in our training programme in Erzurum will surely help us how to conduct our PDCs in our local areas. The face to face training programme was a chance for us to observe teacher's attitude, behaviour, expectations related to these meetings.
Also we saw real examples of PDCs and we attended, took part in PDCs so we had a chance to see how the teachers will feel in these meetings. Finally,we were also given the opportunity to prepare a micro PDC with our colleagues and get feedback for it.
