An important theme in the realistic fiction novel Wonder, R.J Palacio is that everyone deserves a best friend even if there different. This theme means that even is someone looks different or acts different, they still deserve someone that will be there there for them. Auggie states on page 63,"I know he noticed kids staring at me, but he pretended not to notice." (Palacio 63). This theme relates to novel because Auggie is differnent. He doesn't look ordinary. But that doesn't ean doesn't deserve a best friend. Auggie needs someone to be there for him and to just be a good friend in general. In the realistic fiction novel Wonder, by R.J Palacio a very important theme is everyone deserves a best friend even if there different.

In the realistic fiction novel Wonder, R.J Palacio, the protagonist is Auggie Pullman. A main setting in the book is Auggie's house in North River Heights. Another setting is his school, Beecher Prep. The important characters in the novel are Auggie, his parents, Via, Daisy, Julian, Jack, and Charlotte. A conflict Auggie was going through before shool was that Auggie had a facial deformity. So he was home schooled. Now it's time for him to go to school. Many things happened before the Nature Retreat. Auggie met Julian, Jack, and Charlotte when he was at the tour of his new school. Also Auggie realized that Julian is nice in front of adults but rude to kids. Jack talked bad behind Auggie's back. A very important detail is how Jack punched Julian for calling Auggie a "freak". Lastly, Jack wasn't allowed to go to the Nature Retreat. The most exciting paart in this novel is when Auggie went into the woods with Jack and 7th graders started bullying Auggie and Jack. Then Henry, Amos, and Miles stand up for Auggie as well as Jack. This proves they are his good friends to Auggie. While the problem is getting fixed the kids are nicer to Auggie which is a big shift. Also Auggie finds out that Julian isn't going to Beecher Prep next year. Also Auggie's completed artwork was hung in Mr. Tushman's office. As a result, Auggie had a good year at Beecher Prep. Auggie made a lot of friends. He also won the Henry Ward Beecher medal. But most importantly, Auggie learned how to acceept himself for who he is. This was the book Wonder, by R.J Palacio.

In the realistic fiction novel Wonder by RJ Palacio the protagonist is Auggie Pullman. Auggie Pullman is described as self-conscious in the beginning of the novel. On page 60 Auggie states, "Why do I have to look so ugly mommy?" (Palacio 60). Auggie knows that he doesn't look attractive. He has Treacher Collins syndrome, which makes him deformed.Towards the end of the novel Auggie gained more popularity in school. On page 282, Auggie states, "...so suddenly I wasn't known for.. they all call me "little dude" (Palacio 282). This shows that kids are now talking to Auggie and including him. Auggie felt like he wasn't different to them. He felt like he was one of them. In conclusion, AUggie changes through the novel. Another character that plays an important part in Wonder is Via. Via is overprotected of Auggie. She doesn't like when people are rude towards him. On page 3, AUggie states, "...one time in the playground, some older kids made some noises... Via heard and she just started yelling at the kids" (Palacio 3). Via doesn't agree with kids laughing or talking about Auggie. She will get very upset. She wants Auggie to be happy and feel ordinary Via is also very independent. She does a lot of things on her own. On page 83, Via states, "I've gotten used to figuring things out on my own...how to stay on top of my schoolwork so I never fall behind in class" (Palacio 83). This explains that Via is alert with everything around her. She organizes her life so that she doesn't miss anything and to do good in school. In the realistic fiction novel Wonder by RJ Palacio, Via is an overprotected and independent sister.
