My personal philosophy is that every human being deserves to be treated kindly, with respect and dignity. I am driven professionally by my curiosity and commitment to life-long-learning to help those that are ailing, distressed, or suffering. I believe that care should be centered on the patient. As a Nurse I will, without fail, always serve as my patients' healthcare advocate. As I've watched my own parents age, I aspire to provide the type of care to my patients that I hope my own loved ones receive. My goal is to have a positive impact on the comfort and health outcomes of people in need of care.

Ethical scenarios present themselves frequently in the clinical environment. Here I analyzed a potential ethical dilemma regarding delegation by the RN to a UAP. This scenario allowed me to identify the dilemma, potential pitfalls, and solutions.

Evaluate professional behaviors and self-care to improve nursing practice.
Reflective journaling is a great practice to look a little deeper within yourself and evaluate your performance and how your thoughts and feelings affect your practice. This journal entry serves as an artifact of self discovery through reflection of thoughts and feelings and how they helped or hindered my practice. Most, importantly it is a time to identify areas for improvement and develop a plan to do so.

EBP serves as the cornerstone of safe and effective nursing practice. This artifact contains a synopsis of an EBP article regarding female external urinary collection devices (e.g. PureWick). It details the usefulness of FEUCD's and the corresponding decrease of IDC utilization rates and CAUTI's in the female population. I utilized this device in a patient who was high risk for infection and only required strict output monitoring. In this case the EBP supported the use of the PureWick over a IDC.

Leadership consists of much more than just a title. Attached is an artifact that analyzes 8 elements of effective leadership. I've detailed an experience of mine in which I witnessed a nurse execute various elements and characteristics of effective leadership in nursing practice, which will serve as an exemplar for myself in my future practice.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary health care team members.

The PMH psycho-social educational project required the collaboration with my peers, clinical instructor, charge nurse, and unit activity coordinator. Together we were able to construct an activity that was suitable to the milieu and patient population with appropriate materials. Overall, the project had a successful outcome as intended.

6) Health Care System

The ever growing complexities of our healthcare systems require constant research of how to, ultimately, better serve the patient. This artifact is a research article that I analyzed regarding the use of smart wearables to improve patient monitoring in the elderly population. Although the article is dated, it maintains it's relevancy. More research is needed in this area, but it remains a promising field that can drastically improve data harvesting that will allow clinicians to make more informed decisions regarding patient care.

7) Client Centered Care

Attached is a nursing care plan developed with the patient as the center focus of treatment. This artifact demonstrates an understanding of interventions that focus on the patient in order to strive for successful health outcomes. Ultimately the entire care team is in orbit around the patient while collectively collaborating on the patients behalf.
