The play ends without taking us back to Christopher Sly and his predicament because Shakespeare didn't want us to leave reading the play focused on Christoper Sly. He wanted us to focus the play inside of the play. The reasoning was either to leave the reader curious about Sly or to leave people to think about what Katherine stated about the situation between a wife and her husband.

If we had just gone back to Sly and then ended we would of been left to think that the play wasn't as important as the predicament Sly was in. But also, if we went back to him we would have missed the whole point of the entire novel. We would be too busy laughing at Sly getting tricked, we would forget what really mattered. What really mattered was the end and what Katherine said about wives having specific roles toward their husbands.
