Eddie mother Annie died giving birth to him and was then adopted by his uncle Benny Mabo he then changed his name to  sambo to Mabo. Early age in Eddie's life he was taught about his family land. (1959) he moved to Queensland. eddie had a number of jobs working on boats, cutting cane and as a railway fetter. Eddie and few fellow Murray islanders went to court and pled their case in Australia, " Mabo vs the State of Queensland" This case became very famous in Australia court cases. Eddie  Mabo wasn't just fighting for the Meriam people, he was also fighting for every Indigenous so that can also take rights for land. People worried that doing could impact on the Australia industries, But gladly people also saw it as a chance to "right a great wrong in Australia's past".
