I was really shocked on what i was looking at. Hundreds of people were just passing by not even trying to make eye contact with the boy. The older homeless man helped the boy because he knew what it was like to be homeless. I was really happy that the homeless man decided to give his jacket to the freezing boy. I would try my best to help that boy.
If you help someone in need, that makes you a better person.

I was honestly really shocked that no one had stopped to help the boy. Although my parents always tell me that if someone is homeless, they usually are from drugs, except this was just a kid, and no one even thought twice and walked away. I personally would not have stopped to help him, even though I would have felt insanely bad about it. I usually feel pressured by peer pressure, and in that scenario, I therefore would not stop. I was also kind of shocked that the one person that helped the boy was a homeless person himself, even though he didn't dress like one. These social experiments almost seem kind of cruel to the people in my opinion, to show how rude and ignorant the people are. I think it was almost rude and embarrassing to the man when the directors told him that the kid on the ground was just an experiment. I personally am not a huge fan of these experiments, but they do show some inspiring moments.

I think that more people should have stopped to help him. He was right next to a clothing store, and I thought that surely someone would go in the store and just buy a single piece of clothing for him. I think that some people don't realize how important one small gesture could make a big impact on someone else's life. A cheap blanket can cost less than 10 dollars. I think I would have stopped to help him, and I probably would just go buy a blanket for him. I think social experiments like this don't show accurately what people would do. At one point he just climbed in a garbage bag. If I saw a kid climbing into a garbage bag I would probably wonder what he was doing, but I don't think that I would believe he was homeless.

Allison porter I thought that it was incredible that another homeless person helped the poor kid in the cold. Whenever I see homeless people I always feel so bad for them and i ask my parents if they have any money to give. If i saw this kid on the street i would beg my parents to help him especially if it is cold out. I think these experiments are important because it really shows how many careless people are out there.

I feel like in today's society it is hard to give money to homeless people because some people fake it to earn money, but watching this video made me realize how important and lucky we are to live in the community that we live in today. It was amazing to see a homeless man help another homeless child because they connect and have a bond that we will never have with a homeless person unless we experience what they're going through. I would've stopped to help the child because it would be the right thing to do. I personally like Social Experiment videos.

My reaction to the video was not really that shocked. I have watched many of these videos before and I know that nobody really helps. For me it seems like the homeless people have the biggest heart because they have no wealth except for whats in their heart. Instead of feeling good about themselves through money they feel good about themselves through kindness. I feel like many people would see this and be like oh yah I would definitely help him. But when your actually there you would feel different.

I find it extremely heartbreaking that nobody helped, but I don't believe the pedestrians are heartless people. People are used to not helping homeless people. It's sad but true, and many try to justify themselves by saying, "They'll just spend it on drugs," or "Why are they homeless in the first place!". I believe the reason nobody stopped for the boy is because this ideology of homeless people still rung true in most of their minds, even though this person is literally a child. I'm quite dumbfounded that we've created a society were we've desensitized ourselves to the homeless and never try to help. Maybe we see ourselves not being able to help. Maybe we care more for ourselves than others (which makes sense in an evolutionary standpoint. We need to understand that one person can make a difference in a homeless person's (or anybody's) life. As a society, we're nearly blinded by the crowd, doing whatever the majority is doing. Because most people don't help the homeless, this convinces nearly everyone to do nothing to help them. Just from the responses I've seen in this padlet so far, I think it's safe to assume my generation will break the mold of not helping those in need. However, we are so young, and usually have no cash on us, and it's not like we can just give up our coats or food without parents telling us not to. If I was older and came across a kid like this, I can say I would most likely give him money, because no child should have to beg for money in New York, sleep in a trash bag on the ground, and stand in the freezing cold. It's insane that out of the possible millions of individuals who walked past him, not a single one did anything. They had an opportunity to change a life for the better, and did absolutely nothing with it. If we can shift our mindset as a community, I believe we could do truly wonderful things, and help so many more people because we aren't scared to give.

My reaction to the video was at first kind of confused, considering that people would walk by and look at him, but none of them would actually help him. The one thing I also was surprised would be that some would walk up to him, but never do anything. Probably the one thing I would've done would buy him some food and buy him a coat as well, more importantly the coat if I couldn't get the food. My thoughts on these social experiments is that by doing these it helps shows other the morals or ideas that you wanna teach, especially if you do them in public.
