Pi is passionate.

"Bapu Grandhi said, 'All religions are true.' I just want to love God," I blurted out, and looked down, red in the face,"

Pi is also curious.

" Islam followed right behind, hardly a year later."

This shows Pi's curiosity by his desire to learn about

different religions.

Richard Parker:

He is aggressive. In the book it says, " I don't know if I saw blood before turning into Mother's arms or if I daubed it on later; in my memory, with a big brush. But i heard, it was enough to scare the living vegetarian daylights out of me."

This shows he is aggressive because it is describing how when the tiger killed the goat it had that scarring effect.

In the book, Richard is shown as assertive.

"I would hit him on the head! I lifted the oar in the air. He was too fast. He reached up and pulled himself aboard."

This shows he was determined to get aboard and that nothing was going to stop him.

"I walked away and I dared. I entered the church."

He wanted to know about Christianity, so he went to the church to talk to the priest.

"I got close. It seemed to be some sort of unleavened bread. I poked at one."

He was curious about the bread so he went in and got a closer look.

The Will to Survive

"Only when they threw me overboard did I begin to have doubts.""I looked up. Two of the men were looking down at me, pointing wildly at the lifeboat and shouting. I didn't understand what they wanted me to do."

That shows the crews will to survive by sacrificing Pi to save themselves.

" The hyena had attacked the zebra. Its mouth was bright red and it was chewing on a piece of hide."

In order for the hyena to survive, it had to feed on the zebra.
