Some of my favorites memories were created when I went to India. I usually go once every year or once every two years and I always have a lot of fun when I'm there. This year, I didn't think anything was going to happen on my birthday, but surprisingly enough, my best friends and my parents had organized something amazing for me. I got a lot of presents from friends, family, and even my neighbors, but what I thought was truly amazing was what my best friend made for me. My best friend had made a box, that was full of fairy lights that were attached to a lot of the memories that we had together. It had little objects that were connected to our past, and a small photo book, all which represented all the things we went through together. That day was amazing and I couldn't have asked for a better birthday, despite the fact that it was in quarantine. I would like to shoutout my best friend Jaina G. for making quarantine bearable and almost fun, for being there for me whenever I needed her, and for being by my side for the past 3 years. I remember when I was in third grade, and my teacher told me that I was above average. He told me to study for fourth grade during the summer, so that is what I did. At the end of the summer I took the 4th grade test and I scored above average again. I skipped the 4th grade. That made me realize that I was capable of anything, and I am thankful for that experience. I would like to give a shoutout the best English teacher to have ever walked the face of this earth, Mrs Schletzbaum. She always does what is best for us and she would never let me down. I am thankful for the specific memory of being seated next to a person while we were still in middle school. Even though students had no control over the seating chart, I somehow got to switch seats with the person sitting next to me. At the time, this person was very shy and didn't really open up much. I also had been recently hurt so we both had lots of walls up. Somehow for almost all of the year, I got seated next to him and without those teachers and classes, I wouldn't have my absolute best friend. He has absolutely changed my life and made me who I am today. He has made me smile countless times when I never thought I would and is one of the kindest, sweetest people out there. We helped break each other's walls down and when I look back this is now one of my absolute favorite memories that I am thankful for. Looking back in time, one of my favorite memories that I am thankful for was visiting Berkeley with my AVID class in 8th grade (2019-2020). This event occurred during January I believe when the weather was cold. We rode the BART and several other means of transport to reach Berkeley. I remember how happy I was and how joyful my classmates were. We toured the Berkeley campus, took pictures, had lunch, joked around freely, and played games on the BART. When I think of middle school, I think of my friends, AVID classmates who have persevered alongside me, and the endless memories we made together inside our AVID classroom.
