To me, this work isn’t just about voyeurism in an artistic sense — it also touches on the worries and questions we all have about privacy in modern life. We’re so used to using cameras, sensors, and data to observe others, but in doing so, we’re also exposing ourselves. This constant, uneven dynamic of watching and being watched has become an invisible weight that’s hard to escape. For my own project, I’m thinking of using installation as a way to express my ideas, because I feel it can deliver a much more powerful and striking message.

2️⃣ Surveillance devices (CCTV Camera Lens)
I added old CCTV cameras, fake cameras, and tiny hidden lenses. These objects bring in the sense of being watched or secretly filmed, pointing to the power dynamics and coldness behind voyeurism. The little cameras scattered throughout the piece help reinforce that atmosphere.

3️⃣ Fabric Mesh Clothing
I used sheer fabrics, mesh, lingerie, and ribbons to play with the blurry line between covering and exposing. These materials carry a strong feminine energy and hint at vulnerability, decoration, and the way society tries to control women’s bodies.

4️⃣ Everyday objects
I included things like a teddy bear, receipts, tickets, photos, and even ripped-up chat records. These are all personal items from my bedroom and daily life, which bring an intimate layer to the work and amplify the themes of voyeurism and privacy invasion.

5️⃣ Color and texture
I worked with purple, pink, pearls, glitter, foam, silicone, and puffy slime to create a sweet, dreamy, and even slightly sticky atmosphere. This “cute and harmless” surface contrasts sharply with the tension underneath, reflecting how voyeurism often masks its violence behind a playful or careless exterior.

For me, this idea really connects to my project. The experience of being secretly filmed or watched is like a modern-day panopticon. Women often change how they dress or act just because they might be watched or recorded. Foucault’s idea helped me think deeper about the power behind voyeurism, and in my work, I want people to feel what it’s like to be both the one watching and the one being watched.

The pleasure for voyeurs usually comes from a hidden sense of control, like:
→ I can see you, but you don’t know.
→ I have access to your most private, vulnerable moments, and you can’t do anything about it.

This sense of power isn’t just sexual, it’s also about dominance. I also think that a lot of people with this mindset are pretty invisible in their daily lives — maybe they’re stuck in boring routines or feel ignored and under pressure for a long time. For them, voyeurism turns into a twisted way to feel like they matter or to feel in control.
