         <description><![CDATA[<div>This meeting happened because King Louis wanted to address and find a solution to the French Debt.This Debt came about because Louis spent a lot of money helping America with their revolution. The way Louis wanted to solve this is Taxing the 1st and 2nd estate. He taxed them for 50% of their income. They elected legislative to make these laws.          <title>June 1789, Tennis Court Oath</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The 3rd estate was locked out of the chambers. So they went to the tennis court next door to hold their meeting. They vowed to not separate, and to keep meeting until a constitution was made for their country. This was a way to get their voices heard by everyone.          <title>July 1789, The Fall of Bastille</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Men and women rushed the prison of bastille in demand of change. The prison was a symbol of the kings rule. When the building was taken over by the third estate, the governor was killed. His head was paraded around the streets on a sword.          <description><![CDATA[<div>This document known as The Declaration of Man and of the Citizen was very important in the revolution. This document stated the freedoms that the French people would receive. These included, freedom of speech, religion, and the seperation of powers. This is exactly what the third estate wanted. He was arrested and imprisoned. They only got to the small town of Varennes. They traveled 250km.          <description><![CDATA[<div>This constitution made a legislative assembly. The legislative assembly was elected by indirect voting.  It also retained monarchy. This government was a government where the king and the people share power.          <title>July 1793, Robespierre&#39;s reign of terror  </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The government took very harsh measures against people who challenged the revolution. People who challenged this were called royalists. Royalists supported a monarchy. If you were found to be a royalist, you were either executed or punished and tortured.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The fall of this leader started when he sent his friends Danton and Desmoulins. Robespierre used his power in the committee of public safety to have the 2 put in front of a judge. The trial was very unfair and both were sent to the guillotine. People were very suspicious after this. Why would he have 2 of his friends murdered? He was seen as a tyrant. He was taken down before he ruined the government.</div>]]></description>
