As-Solihin, Pasti Menyengat! 🐝 [3rd Week as Teacher at Pasti As-Solihin, Penang]

1. Your name, matric number, date

Syahirah binti Rezwan Eskandar, A182125, Week 3 (24-30/7).

2. Your progress so far

In Week 3, I resumed the routines at Pasti As-Solihin as usual. But this week I participated in something new and fun - PASTI Football & Netball Championship Zon Nibong Tebal 2023 which will be the highlight of this week’s journal. From the preparation to the day of the event, I actively took part and did my best to contribute. During the discussion with the other teachers, we collectively agreed on the bee theme and divided the job scopes then. I was assigned to design & build the banner for our team with the other three teachers. I was also involved in planning the costumes for the kids that will participate in the parade. On the day of the event, I helped to dress up the kids with the costumes prepared, joined the parade and most importantly, watched the games & supported the kids with our unbeatable loud cheers 😂.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

I am happy & grateful that everything was executed accordingly as planned. I came up with an idea on how to make the honeycomb for the banner using only a piece of box which I was proud of as everyone thought it was creative! Nonetheless, thanks to everyone’s hard-work, the parade was a success. The banner was beautiful, the kids looked extremely excited & adorable in the costumes. And not to forget, we won 2nd place for netball. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any place for football. The disappointment was there, but it’s fine, it’s a sign that there’s still rooms for improvement and we definitely can do better next time!

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

Personally, I think I applied the skill of decision making in certain situations I encountered daily. For example, when the kids running around, when the kids crying, when they got distracted at times, when they got chatty during classes and so on. At first, I had rough times deciding should I, at what point I need to intervene, what should be done etc. Hence, I learned through observing how the other teachers handle those kind of situations. But, in some situations, I just take what I think would be the best for the kids as the answer/solution to my uncertainty.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

During this EP period, I start my day at 5.30am to get ready and pray Fajr. Around 6.50am, I drive to Pasti As-Solihin which is 10 minutes away from my house. Then, I’ll be working from 7.00am until 12.30pm on Monday-Thursday, until 11.30pm on Friday. After making sure everything is settled, I drive back and arrive at home around 1.00pm. Then, it’s basically a few hours to spend for lunch, prayers etc. Around 9.00pm, I’ll make a short note of what I did on that particular day and prepare for tomorrow’s agenda appropriately. Finally, lights off at 11pm.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

Lead the class/learning session to gain more realistic experience of being a kindergarten teacher.

Give cupcakes to the teachers & kids as farewell gift.

THIRD WEEK AS A TEACHER AT E.L. PRESCHOOL JUASSEH NEGERI SEMBILAN

1.	Your name, matric number, date
Wafa Thohirah binti Mohd Sabri, A182369, 14/8/23-18/8/23

2.	Your progress so far
My progress so far is quite good. Everything is under control. It seems like I am already compatible with preschool teaching and nursery style. As always, every day got unpredictable challenges and I learned a lot from it. But this week, I like to share the most unforgettable moment, it was when I need to wash Qalish’s poop(it was not in her diaper but on her panty). It was my first time facing this situation but I did it in the end(thanks God😭).

3.	Your feelings and thoughts
My feeling is mixed this week. Generally, I am proud because I can survive until now but of course, I am sad as next week is gonna be my farewell.
I thought about Qalish’s incident, it was one of my dilemmas in my 23 years of life (being dramatic sorry)I was crying unconsciously while cleaning it. It makes me think that a teacher’s job in this world is not easy and always be honorable and not forget about our parents as well who are our first teachers in life.

4.	How did you learn and apply the skill of decision-making in your EP journey?
When I talk about decision-making, early I decide something based on how the teacher there did but over time I like to decide on my own. Let’s say when the kid is crying, out of the 4 teachers there, now everyone has a different way to tackle the issue. I decide either to persuade the kid with action or words(talk softly). Experience helps me to decide what is the best way to solve the kids’ problems.

5.	How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
Honestly, I am not a morning person so when I need to work sharp at 8 am, it was something hard for me at first but with determination to be a better person and better teacher, I did it. I take coffee every morning before gotta work and it is very helpful. Not to forget, my mother’s cooperation in transporting me to the preschool every morning, She does a very important role so that I can arrive at work on time even sometime earlier than the expected time(I am never late, proud of it).

6.	Your plan for next week (Week 4)
I would like to prepare myself mentally because I am sure that my feeling next week will be hurt by the farewell. I will just keep in mind that this experience was a very good moment in my life and hope that every single kid in this preschool will be a good and successful person in the future. Lastly, I prepare something for the kids and teachers there. For the kid, I like to give them an art set, and for the teacher, I give them a thermos cup.

I am no longer stuttering when I talk and have grown more assured, especially when responding to customers' inquiries and explaining payment options.

3) Your feelings and thoughts
I have started to see a significant improvement from the first two weeks in this third week. When I received the collection that day, I immediately felt excited and more comfortable speaking. In addition, I enjoy my job now that I have begun to bond with the office employees.

4) How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

I have to make a lot of decisions when I remind customers to pay their Celcom bills, especially when the customer is less able and requests a payment delay. In those situations, I need to be very certain that the customer who requested the delay is indeed intending to pay their bills or is just trying to avoid doing so.

5) How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
I make sure to leave the house as early as possible in the morning to get to work because the morning commute is always busy. When I am at work, I make sure to make the most of the time allocated before lunch to communicate with customers. I will have lunch at noon, then take a quick nap before performing the Zohor prayer and continuing to work until it is time to go back. In order to avoid being packed with many other people who have just returned from work, I will immediately run to the nearby lrt station after that in order to get home.

6) Your plan for next week (Week 4)
My plan for the next week is to reach the remaining collection to reach the target given to me for this month.
Educator at Tadika Efektif, Rawang, Selangor (Week 3)

1) Your name, matric number, date
Navitha A/P Sitambaram
A181427
6/8/2023 - 12/8/2023

2) Your progress so far
This is the third week of my elective posting as an educator in Tadika Efektif, throughout these three weeks period I have improved myself in various soft skills. I learnt how to talk to children and make them to obey to my commands. Apart from that I also conducted interesting games to make them quiet and focus in class. Giving out prizes for those students who behaved well encourages other students to be more focused and pay attention during class. It also helped me to conduct the teaching without having to yell to make the class quiet. Moreover, I also managed to build a good rapport with the students' parents as they leave their child to us to learnt new knowledge and manners. Building a good rapport with parents helped me to convey their child's attitude and to share ways we can tackle them to sort out the issue. I also get to know the child's behavior at home so that and how does it differ in classroom. This way, we could discuss how the student can be managed and taught at preschool.

3) Your feelings and thoughts
I feel more attached to the students as well as the teachers throughout these three weeks period of elective posting. The teachers here are understanding and helped me alot throughout these three weeks guiding through the school's system and how to tackle students of each age group. They were also very supportive and easy going although I was a newcomer. I also feel included when any decisions or plans were made by the teachers when it comes to the school's and the students' well being. Although it is tiring to look after young children it turns out to be rewarding at the end of the day when they manage to learn new things and manners. I also feel motivated to teach when the children pays attention and focuses during class.

4) How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in you EP journey?
Decision making skill came extremely handy during the second week of elective posting where we had our annual sports day event when the weather was not favorable. On that day, I learnt that quick and right decisions are important to make an event a success. Throughout the third week of elective posting, I improved my decision making skill as it was crucial in order to run the day smoothly. I had to decide what task is suitable to which student based on their level of understanding and competency. This helped the students to not only do their part but also improve their knowledge and skills day by day. Apart from that, I also had to decide the breakfast for the day as it must suit all the students and teachers pallets. It was hard at the initial stages where some students refuse to eat what is being offered. However, I did manage to please everyone by slightly changing the menu and offering desserts to those who finish their meal. This way, the students could finish their meal despite what is being offered.

5) How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
At initial stages it was a very tiring and time consuming to look after young children who does not listen to the teachers. However, when days goes by, I tend to observe each students and how they behave with one another. This helped me to approach them personally and differently compared to their peers. When each students are tackled on their own way, it became easier for me to manage all the students during class. Apart from that, I also have to be in the kindergarten early in the morning before the students arrive and leave once everyone left the kindergarten. This required a lot of time and energy spent in the kindergarten with the teachers and the students. In order to manage my time well, I often have a one to one session with students who come early in the morning, this way I can ensure that the student is making a progress. I finish marking books and preparing homework for the next day in the afternoon while waiting the students to be fetched back home form the kindergarten.

6) Your plan for next week (Week 4 )
My plan for next week is to continue monitoring each students in terms of their progression throughout the 4 weeks period. Apart from that, the preschool's mid term examinations are to be hold next week where students will be assessed for their knowledge in various subjects including Tamil, English, Malay Language, Science, and Mathematics.

I need to help the teacher in charge of the club to give some introduction about the club.

10/8/23
- Continue photography session.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

This week brought a lot of feelings to me. If I were to compare it with the previous week, this week is the most exciting for me especially during Sambutan Hari Kemerdekaan that was held on 7th August. After I reached school at that morning, I feel so amazed because I saw most of the teacher wear Independence themed clothes. That enthusiasm showed by all the teachers make the events full of excitement. Waving Jalur Gemilang while singing patriotic song was the proudest moment and it gave a valuable experience for me. Moreover, it also brought me a lot of memories when I was students at this school before. I felt so overwhelmed because I've never thought that at this moments I was able to stand in front of the stage as a teacher. I felt thankful to Allah for all the opportunity that was given to me that make me able to gave some contribution my school.

Overall, I am satisfied with all the teaching and learning activities on this week.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

As a teacher, decision making skills is very crucial in this profession.

Firstly, I need to decide the contents that I want to teach the students and also the way to present it in front of the class. I managed this by planning it every night before the next day because decision can only be made after we have a plan.

Next, decision making is also applied in behaviour management of the students during the class. For example, if there are some students that not give attention to the class, I had to make a quick decision on how to manage the students to make sure they are on track on class syllabus and not disturbing the other students. At this points, there are two things that came across my mind. First, do I need to become a bit aggressive or strict to make sure they listen to my instruction or second, do I need to ignore and let them continue on what they are doing. BUT, I realised that becoming a teacher is not only just teaching based on the facts but teaching is actually a series of decision we make to help the students to learn. So, to avoid wasting my time by keep repeating to ask the students to pay attention, I changed my style of teaching into 2 way communication. For example, asking the students to read aloud the class materials and play a quiz and it works for me.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

Everyday, I have to wake up at 5.45 a.m to get ready for Subuh prayer and go to school. I drive my car to school and it takes 20 minutes to reach there. All the teacher need to be at school before 7.30 a.m. in the morning. Then, I will enter the class that I was assigned and start teaching and learning process. It takes 40 minutes for 1 period of class. During free time before I enter another class, I take that time to jot down on what I need to improve and try to come out with other initiatives for the other class. Finally, the school end at 2.20 p.m. and I drive back home. I take a rest for a while after a hectic day and at 5.15 p.m. I will spend my time to play badminton with my close friend. At night, I will make some preparation for the next day and usually go to bed at 10.30 p.m.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)
- Continue class relief
- Help other teacher to supervised students that take part for Majlis Sukan Sekolah Kota Setar (MSSD Kota Setar)
- Feast with all teacher before I ended my elective posting.
- Meeting with Principal, Pn Sariza.

1. Your name, matric number, date

Nur Raihana T’ng Binti Mohd Salleh T’ng

A181687

6/8 - 10/8/2023

2. Your progress so far

For this week, I was assigned to distribute the Jalur Gemilang and lyrics to the student for Merdeka celebration ceremony. I came to the school early than usual to prepare all the things and start to distribute as the students start to gather. It was a wonderful memory to celebrate Merdeka with the school as a teacher. Other than that, I was able to be assigned again as an examiner invigilator. The exam took about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Furthermore, another exciting and fun job scope was given when I was assigned as a photographer for their annual Excellent Award. I was able to expand my creativity and sharpen my photographer skills throughout the process. They equipped us with some appliances for the preparation. It was a fun activity. Lastly, I joined another teacher to their monthly extracurricular meetings (Frisbee). I was able to learn a lot more about the game from the students. I also able to watch them demonstrate how to play Frisbee.

As time goes by, my time in the school become more exciting and adventurous. I was given more responsibility and trust from the school, this give me opportunity to learn and experience more from the school. I also able to communicate and engage more with the school’s staff and students. I was able to reduce my nervousness and worry as engaging, communicate, interact and entering random class become a normal routine in a day. I encountered several obstacles along the process such as how to create a fun creative class with the student and interact with the other teacher, however, I learned a lot from the experience and able to counter them better the next time.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

My week become more relax as time goes by. I was able to become really comfortable with the school’s environment. I also managed to create bond with certain other teachers as we work together. There are certain times when I can be nervous as I need to enter some new class or engaging with new teacher, however, these past few weeks experiences allowed me to be more relax and encounter the problem.

4. How did you learn and apply the skills of decision making in your EP journey?

I learn a lot from these past few weeks about how the students and the teachers working pattern. I was able to observe and blend in their working styles. I also used a lot of communication and affirmation from the teachers and students for me to be able fully understand the situation or job scope before making the decision. Other than that, I also asked a lot questions from the teachers for their opinions for the task to go smoothly. Example from the photographer session for the award ceremony, we communicate and interact a lot throughout the process to prevent any miscommunication and to allow everyone to feel satisfied with the outcome. It takes a few days to take the pictures, insert into the google drive before making the slides for the award ceremony. Another example from the Merdeka ceremony, we have had a few face to face meeting to prepare and briefing for everyone’s job scope. We also discussed how to distribute smoothly and collect the Jalur Gemilang back from the students after the ceremony.

5. How did you manage your time through this EP journey?

i managed my time during EP journey by making a list to do or timetable. Every morning, I would received the relief classes that I need to fill as well as messages from few teachers about the weekly workload.

1. Your name, matric number, date
Leka Murugaya, A182282,
24/7/2023-28/7/2023

2. Your progress so far

I've been asked to take over Mathematics class for year 5 for this week.
In order to avoid teaching them something they already know, I first asked the students about the concepts they found confusing. I taught them BODMAS because they said it was a little difficult for them to understand. In order to make sure that everyone understood the concepts I taught them very well, I had also called out some students to come up and answer my questions. Not only that, they said fractions were difficult for them to understand, so I taught them fractions as well. Additionally, I gave my third speech, "Practicing Healthy Eating Habits." It was enjoyable to engage in activities and knowledge exchange with the students.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

I was so happy for my decision to become an educator for my elective posting. I had numerous opportunities to impart knowledge and serve as an inspiration to all the pupils there. Although some of the students are a little playful, when it comes to studying, they were paying attention, which made it easy for me to manage them. At the same time, I'm feeling very sad because this is now my third week at this school and my posting will soon come to an end. I really had a great time with them.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

I believe that as a teacher, decision making is very important. When I was offered the opportunity to take over the year 5 mathematics class, I realized I could teach whatever I wanted. However, I must identify the subjects that my pupils struggle with in order to work with them on those instead of simply repeating what they already know. Additionally, I was tasked with facilitating an activity with the students after I finished my speech. In order for the kids to fully understand the subject, I had choose and decide a beneficial activity.
activity. I had two ideas in mind, either divide the children into small groups and create a food pyramid or bring a few items to the school that suited to their standards, and have them prepare a simple dish as a result. I came to the conclusion that cooking an easy, healthful dish would help the kids comprehend the speech I had just presented. I came to learn that, in order to help pupils understand concepts clearly, educators must base their decisions on what is important to students. In conclusion, I believe that decision-making is highly important in every field and that we should start practicing it in our daily lives from this point on.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

It was initially challenging because I had to get up really early so I could get to school by 7:20. But for the next four weeks, I'll have to force myself to get out of bed sooner. I'm grateful that every day, my mother will get up early to drop me off at school. I'll be at work from 7:30 till 1:30. I will take a couple hours to take a shower and have lunch after returning home. I'll be taking some time in the evening to reflect back on what happened on that specific day at school so that I can get better for the days ahead. Every night, I usually go to bed at 10.30 pm

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

My supervisor informed me that I would receive a relief class at random for the following week. I'm a little anxious about this because I have no idea what subject I'll be required to teach. I'm hoping nothing will go wrong. And I have to give my final speech, which is on Substance Abuse.

1. Your name, matric number, date

Bahiratuz Zulfa binti Baharuddin

A180904

6/8/2023 – 10/8/2023

2. Your progress so far

During the third week of the exam, I continued my work as an examiner. So far, everything has been under my control. There were no major problems when I was in charge. I also had the opportunity to become an examiner for Form 1 students and assist them with some terms that they might not comprehend during the exam. It's such a sweet interaction with them. They are much more young and less mature than the upper form. My supervisor also asked me to help her mark a Form 5 student's biology paper. There, I could clearly observe the student's knowledge of the subject. Throughout my experience marking the sheets, I noticed that the majority of the students lacked knowledge of the subject since most of them scored half of the actual mark. Hence, I came up with the idea of giving them extra sessions outside of school to teach the subject and focus on their understanding. I met with the Form 4 and Form 5 batch leaders to address the situation and came up with a plan to hold a lesson over their vacation. Besides, I also managed to finish some notes that I would like to give them as a learning tool.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

I had mixed feelings as this was my third week here, but I don’t have much opportunity to share knowledge with students because they had exams as soon as I entered this school. But I’m still grateful for the chance to get to know them and have trained myself to become an educator.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

Throughout my journey as a teacher, I have believed that decision-making is a crucial skill a teacher must have. As a result, I often ask my supervisor which class I need to attend for tomorrow’s session the day before. I’ll ask what kind of topic I should cover, the class momentum and their interactions with teachers. I was also able to meet some of the students to ask about their progress with their studies, how they find the biology subject, and their expectations while learning the subject. I tried to gather as much information as I could, and with that, I tried my best to teach them with good learning material. I normally use textbooks and YouTube videos as my major sources to help me understand the topic better. I’ll also ask my supervisor about any topic that I find difficult. I also managed to make my own PowerPoint to make the topic much easier to understand. It usually takes me 6 to 7 hours to prepare everything. It is tiring yet joyful. Not to mention, I also ask my parents any advice or tips to handle the students since both of them are teachers themselves.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

As I live in hostels along with wardens and students, I have no choice but to follow their routines. Fortunately, I am a morning person. Therefore, waking up early in the morning is not a big issue for me. I usually start my day at 5:30 a.m. I’ll do my own laundry, prepare for Fajr, and leave for school at 7.30 a.m. Before my class begins, I’ll review the topic again to avoid any misconceptions about it. During my free time, I generally studied for my next lecture or did my own medical notes if I didn't have anything else to do. For the preparation of the next day, it usually takes me 6-7 hours to do so, starting shortly after Asar until midnight.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

I’ll just continue the things that I’ve been doing now and to mark Form 4 students paper sheets.

1. Your name, matric number, date
Hamizah Aina binti Ahmad Badruddin
A180930
7/8/2023-11/8/2023

2. Your progress so far
In my third week, I continue the same activities with the students. In the morning, I prepared breakfast for them. After their breakfast, I guide them in praying Dhuha. After praying, I guide them in reciting the Quran (Iqra'). I ask them to read storybooks where I will correct their pronounciation. At the same time, I will do a quiz regarding spelling. Next, I will ask them to complete their homework. If they do not have school homework, I will prepare some exercises. I give them the exercise based on the day. For example, Monday is Science and Tuesday is Mathematics. They will ask me if they have doubts while doing so. After finishing their exercises and homework, they will bathe and eat lunch. While waiting to go to school, I will play with them by asking some mathematical questions, such as multiplication.
Since some of the schools were on leave last Friday, not many students came to the daycare. Unfortunately, I was not able to conduct the colouring contest. However, I planned to conduct it on next Friday. In addition, I have conducted some games with them such as musical chair.

3. Your feelings and thoughts
Children are different from adults. From my observation, I can say that the children are so innocent. Sometimes, they come to the daycare centre in a bad mood because they miss their parents, however, their mood changes once they meet their friends at the centre. This is different from adults, where some of them tend to be in a bad mood the entire day. Thus, we could not predict the children's mood.
As for my feelings, since next week is going to be my final week, I am quite upset. I am sure that I am going to miss spending time with the students. I have been attached to all the students. Thus, it is going to be hard.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
Teaching is a series of decisions we make to help students learn. Decisions start when we plan our lesson, deciding what to teach and how to teach it. Furthermore, decision making can be applied before, during and after class with the students. At first, I had no idea how to make a decision on what and how to teach the students. However, after the guidance from the teachers and studying on the Internet, I have gained some knowledge. In addition, I struggled quite a bit on my first week of Elective Posting but managed to overcome it on my second and third week. The way that I apply it is by handling the students all by myself and conducting the task based on what I have been told and instructed accordingly.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
Time management skills are very important, especially for teachers. It is a basic tool that is needed to complete our task effectively and provide better education to the students. As as teacher, I managed my time by making a timetable for each week. I will list down the tasks and activities that have to be conducted with the students. Usually, I prepare the timetable on Sunday. By making a timetable, I realise that it makes me feel confident and prepares me for the entire day. In addition, by making a timetable, I can get a vague idea of how the activites will be conducted for the whole week.
I wake up every morning at 6.15 a.m. Although it was quite hard for me at first, however I realise that by waking up early, I feel more calm as I do not have to rush. Although the daycare centre starts at 8.30 a.m., I will reach the centre at 8 a.m. so that I have time to prepare. I will also go back from work on time, which is at 4.30 p.m.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)
Since I did not have a chance to do the colouring contest last week, I will conduct it next week. Furthermore, since it is already my last week here, I will spend as much time with them as possible.

Week 3; Exploring and Learning Together

1. Your name, matric number, date

Name: Nur Alya Asyiqin Binti Irwan Syarzizi

Matric number: A181505

Date: 26th – 30th June

2. Your progress so far

Week 3 has been a journey of growth and exploration. In discussions with my supervisor, I found a way to contribute, which is by updating the dining room with information about healthy eating, in conjunction perfectly with July's theme of Makanan Sihat

On June 26th, I joined my supervisor for the GENIUS activity with the two years old little kawan-kawan. It was a small group, just two children. We went on a nature walk and even visited a nearby Speedmart. The children absorbed so much from the experience, listening intently to the sounds of cars and birds.

I spent June 27th with the 4-year-olds as they learned about the letter H. Each child was given a sheet of paper to trace the letter. Their progress varied, showcasing their learning journeys. Later, with the 2-year-olds, we explored topics like mouth, teeth, and tongue. The teacher encouraged them to speak out words, and they embraced a related craft activity.

June 28th found me again with the 4-year-olds, learning early mathematics. They used cloth pegs to place pom pom balls into numbered bottle caps (1 to 5). While the teacher worked individually with them, I engaged the other children with soft puzzles. Another exciting GENIUS activity involved blowing a ping pong ball from one cup of water to another, in sequence up to the fifth cup. Paired with a child who needed a partner, we had so much fun! Although I must admit, I lost to a 4-year-old in a friendly competition!

A short break followed on the 29th and 30th for Hari Raya Aidil Adha holidays.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

Week 3 amazed me with the power of play-based learning. Seeing how children absorb concepts, skills, and values through interactive activities is incredible. It highlights their potential and the importance of engaging in learning.

I was also proud of the parents who enrolled their young children here. Despite initial concerns like crying and tantrums, these children have adapted and thrived, showcasing the value of early education in building a solid foundation.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

I have been learning a lot about making decisions during my EP journey. Interestingly, I have picked up this skill from the children and the teachers around me.

This one time, I saw a child sneeze and her nose got runny. At first, I thought wiping it off and moving on was okay. But then, I noticed the child was not as cheerful as usual. I realized that maybe it is best to tell the teacher about it. I spoke to the teacher and explained what I saw. They were grateful for the information and called the child's mother. It turned out the child had a mild flu. It made me realize that my decision to aks for help can matter in essential situations. Similar situations happened when I was alone with the children, especially in the mornings. Sometimes, they would argue over toys, and I had to decide whether to ask them to share nicely or wait a bit.

These experiences taught me that sometimes I need to ask for help from others. Other times, I have to make quick decisions to solve a problem. Overall, I have learned that decision-making is an important skill. It is about knowing when to ask for help and when to make choices on my own. These little moments have shown me the value of making good decisions in different situations.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

Managing my time during this EP journey has been quite a learning experience. I have some helpful ways to make the most of each day.

One thing I do is set a schedule. I plan for the day, listing the activities I need to do. It helps me stay organized and focused on what needs to be done. During the play school hours, I make sure to be fully present, I engage with the children, assist the teachers, and participate in activities. This way, I use my time effectively to contribute and learn. Sometimes, unexpected things happen, like when a child needs assistance or a situation arises. In those moments, I have learned to be flexible and adjust my plans accordingly. It is essential to prioritize and address immediate needs.

Reflecting on my EP journey, I realize that managing time is about balancing following a plan and adapting to the moment. This skill has not only helped me here but will also be helpful in various aspects of life.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

As the final week approaches, I have a clear plan in mind to make the most of my time here.

Complete Dining Room Project.

I will work with my supervisor to finalize the project in the dining room. I want to ensure that the information about healthy food is displayed effectively.

Embrace Learning and Fun

I am excited to continue having fun and learning alongside the children. With the new theme of Makanan Sihat for the upcoming month, I look forward to engaging in activities that teach the little ones about nutritious food enjoyably.

Make Lasting Memories

Since it's my final week, I aim to create lasting memories with the teachers and the children. I want to cherish every moment and contribute positively to the play school's vibrant atmosphere.

1. Your name, matric number, date:

Nur Amirah Syuhadah binti Halib

A181133

(7/8/2023 - 11/8/2023)

2. Your progress so far

I could say that all is well so far. I feel like I keep getting better at my job and I would give myself a pat on the back for the obstacles that I overcame. I have been learning a lot from my supervisor and other teachers and improve in my social skills a lot.

For the third week, I just continue with my usual routine and complete my given tasks by the supervisor such as relief class and other things. But, most of the days, we had sport practice (football and netball) for upcoming sports event on 20 August. I was assigned to do coaching for netball team so week 3 is quite hectic for me as the date is approaching. On Wednesday (9/8), we had a friendly match with another PASTI schools to prepare the students for the real match next week. I hope all of our hard work pays off and most importantly all the kids can have fun and enjoy their games to the fullest.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

Personally, I do get mixed feelings as I feel a little bit melancholic as my EP journey will come to an end soon. But at the same time, I am very happy and grateful to be able to work with cute and amazing students at Pasti Al-Badar and make many great memories with them besides learn the new things.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

I was given a task by my supervisor which is to be a coach for netball team. I need to select players for an upcoming netball tournament. A critical component of coaching is decision making, which is the process of selecting players among many choices. Initially, I literally had no idea how to make decisions properly without anyone being hurt if they're not being chosen as children can be pretty sensitive but I did try my best to make a right and fair decision. I guess I'm still learning how to have an excellent skill of decision making and hopefully I will improve it in the future.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

I have been generally a morning person so I don't feel like wake up early as a big problem. I then proceed with my daily morning routine such as take a shower and perform morning prayer and then prepare to go to work. Before leaving for work, I always ensure that I have breakfast so that my body has the energy to do all that it has to throughout the day. The school day begins at 8am and the students begin to arrive at 7:30am. The school day ends at 12:30pm. Once every student is sent off to where they are supposed to be, my job as the teacher is done for the day. Then after school, I just relax and recharge my body to make sure I get well-prepared for another day. One more thing I forgot to mention, sleep is another crucial thing for student teachers. I will make sure I get enough sleep everyday to help me stay focused at work. This routine has helped me with my personal life, and another thing I learned is that it is all about work-life balance.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

Since it will be my last week at Pasti Al-Badar, I just plan to create wonderful memories with the students as many as possible because memories will last a lifetime. I also plan to distribute some little goodies for them as we have to part ways after this. (No! I'm sad already 😞)

1. Your name, matric number, date
    Nurly Syakirin binti Mohd Arshad
    A174821
    31/7/2023 - 5/8/2023

2. Your progress so far

I found out that I was able to get used to a new routine other than studying & going to classes. I followed the same routine as last week except this week we started to practice for the upcoming sports day.

Besides that, on Monday, a teacher and I were trusted to manage the students for the day as another two teachers had other business to handle. It was a hectic yet fulfilling day for me.😁😵

Other than that, I also could identify some improvements in those students I monitored during their academic session. 👍👍For example, they could finish their designated tasks within the time given and they did colouring more neatly. I also had a discussion with my supervisor and the other teacher on producing learning materials for the students.

3. Your feelings and thoughts.

Each day was another chance for me to discover more about the students; their habits, skills, talents etc which made me excited.🙂 I learned the importance of letting the students doing everything on their own under supervision to build on their basic motor skills so that they can carry out daily activities themselves. On Monday, it was tiring than usual as me and another teacher (only two of us) had to handle the students for the sports day practice for the whole day yet enjoyable.😆

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

I learned a lot from the other teachers there in managing the students. Initially, I was clueless to treat the students🤔😅, how to teach the, when & how to advise them, when to get stern with them, what to let and not let the students do, what tone of voice to use when speaking with them etc.

However, throughout my three weeks here, after observing the other teachers and asking them and doing some reading on the internet, I found answers to my uncertainties and started to adjust myself accordingly.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
I woke up in the morning and did my morning routines; taking a bath, performing prayers and getting ready for work. Usually, I skipped breakfast and had a morning tea together with the students at school. I needed to make sure I reached the school by 8.30 and I went there by car.
Then, I did my usual routines; assisting during morning assembly & prayer, morning tea, academic session, playtime etc.
I made sure to sleep at least before midnight so that I would be ready and fully awake for the next day. I would prepare my attire to be worn the next day before sleeping.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)
     - Completing my learning materials
     - Editing another video as we will be having a trip to Pustaka KL next Thursday. 😎
