This is my favorite quote because it shows the true horror that Annie is just now starting to reveal to Paul. This shows that this is just the tip of what insanity lies in Annie's head. At this point Paul still believes that he has just been saved. He fails to see at first how disturbed this woman, but now he is starting to catch on to the fact that there is more to her than what meets the eye. I also love it, because he is incredibly descriptive here about her facial expression. He makes her come of as a very scary person here that would be a threat. This scene gives him a reason to fear her.

Book review by Publishers Weekly

King's new novel, about a writer held hostage by his self-proclaimed "number-one fan," is unadulteratedly terrifying. Paul Sheldon, a writer of historical romances , is in a car accident; rescued by nurse Annie Wilkes, he slowly realizes that salvation can be worse than death. Sheldon has killed off Misery Chastain, the popular protagonist of his Misery series and Annie, who has a murderous past, wants her back. Keeping the paralyzed Sheldon prisoner, she forces him to revive the character in a continuation of the series, and she reads each page as it comes out of the typewriter; there is a joyously Dickensian novel within a novel here, and it appears in faded typescript. Studded among the frightening moments are sparkling reflections on the writer and his audience, on the difficulties, joys and responsibilities of being a storyteller, on the nature of the muse, on the differences between "serious" and "popular" writing. Sheldon is a revealingly autobiographical figure; Annie is not merely a monster but is subtly and often touchingly portrayed, allowing hostage and keeper a believable, if twisted, relationship. The best parts of this novel demand that we take King seriously as a writer with a deeply felt understanding of human psychology. One million first printing; $400,000 ad/promo; BOMC main selection. (June 8)

I agree with the way they portray this book. I agree with this, because they describe misery as a terrifying book about a monster keeping captive her favorite author forcing him to rewrite a character he has written dead back to life. They got the description of the book and the characters down perfectly. They give the book a very creepy mood and that fits it perfectly in my taste. They make Annie come off as cruel and insane which fits her character. They also hint into the fact that Annie is slowly torturing her prisoner as they say Paul being saved was worse than him actually dying in that car crash.

I chose this typewriter, because it is important to this book. A big part of the plot includes the typewriter and he uses the typewriter almost all throughout the book. Paul has written one of Annie's favorite characters dead and she is very upset about this. She gets Paul a typewriter and makes him rewrite the entire book, which I very painful for Paul because the original version of that book is the only copy out there and Annie made him literally burn it and start over. This typewriter caused Paul a lot of pain, but in the end it's what saved his life.

This setting impacts Misery in many ways. It gives that hopeless feeling that there is no escape and sets in that creepy tone that the book is all about. It gives a sense of solitude so when Annie tortures Paul throughout the story it really lets you know that there is no help coming to save him. It really shows how Paul the main character, has become Annie's prisoner in this scenario. He can't escape her reasons being that their in the middle of nowhere, and that he shattered both of his legs.

This image is important, because this also caused Paul a lot of pain. Annie found out how Paul escaped his room and how he was gonna murder her. This is after Annie confirmed that Paul is her prisoner and this is one of the worst things Annie has done to him in this book. She gets a wedge puts it between his legs and breaks both of his feet so that he could keep on writing the book, but couldn't run away. It was called hobbling and this was Paul's worst moment he had with Annie.
