The book is about animals sharing and the bird having to share more than he is willing too.

This book included illustrations of lots of black children with natural and realistic hair styles and the presence of a black male teacher in the classroom made me like this book even more. The pledge that the children are taking in this book could also be a pledge for me as well. My favorite book was
CRAZY HAIR DAY by: Barney Saltzberg because after working in the classroom as a teacher, I can empathize with students on picture day. I've had students that wore something that wasn't quite so flattering on picture day and we (myself and class) really had to work hard to get them out of their blue mood. This was the first time I'd seen or heard of the book, and I was pleasantly surprising by the beautiful illustrations and kind, inclusive message of making room for everyone.
