Coyotes live in the plains, forests, mountains, and deserts of Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Central America.  

 Coyotes eat small animals that they are able to hunt and capture such as mice, rats, gophers, mountain beavers, rabbits, deer, elk, snails, amphibians, squirrels, snakes, lizards, fish, birds, and animal carcasses.

A coyote’s body appearance is reddish-gray/gray and they look like medium sized dogs.  They would also have a pointy, black nose, a bushy tail, and some coyotes have yellow eyes.

   Coyotes are amazing animals. They can be found almost everywhere in North America, the United States,   Mexico and Central America. They roam the plains, forests, and deserts of Canada. Coyotes are well known for adapting to different habitats. Coyotes can camouflage to many environments. Camouflaging helps the Coyote because they can use it to blend into the environment and hunt down prey easier. Coyotes can also work together with other coyotes to hunt down bigger preys. 

  Coyotes are not picky eaters. Coyotes eat rabbits, fish, frogs, and deers. Even though they are usually meat eaters they sometimes eat vegetables. When they don’t eat bigger preys they sometimes eat fruits, insects, and grass. Coyotes are well known for killing pets, but they usually help with killing rodents and other agricultural pests. While in cities Coyotes will eat pet food or garbage. 

  Most people may think that Coyotes are scary and dangerous, but most of then are friendly and will not bite you unless you try to harm them. Coyotes normally run when they see humans. If needed you can scare Coyotes by looking bigger than you are and being loud. 

 

     Coyotes are not a endangered species. Some believe that the coyote population has never been higher. Even though farmers have used traps, guns, or poison to protect their crops, the coyote population is still growing. Even since 1861, 500,000 coyotes have been killed by the U.S. government to hamper the population growth. 

    Coyotes are members of the Canidae family and share a lot of the same traits of their relatives for example wolves, dogs, foxes and jackals. They all have narrow, elongated snouts, lean bodies, yellow eyes, bushy tails and thick fur.  Even though coyotes are tough they also have predators. Wolves, bears, and cougars are the coyote’s predators. The biggest predator of a coyote is a human. 

  

Habitat:

 Coyotes live in North America and wander around the plains, forests, mountains and deserts of Canada, the U.S, Mexico and Central America. Some even live in tropical climates. But as we start moving to the countryside, coyotes start adapting to huge cities to start hunting for food. 

Food:

They eat small animals such as rodents, rabbits, fish and frogs, and larger animals like deer. They are meat eaters ,but they are omnivores. They do eat meat and vegetation. They  When they aren't eating bigger prey, they will eat snakes, insects, fruit and grass.Their diet is 90 percent mammals. 

Apperance:

They are smaller than wolves but a bit bigger than medium sized dogs. They are from 32 to 37 inches but their tail adds another 16 inches. They normally weigh somewhere from 20-50 pounds. A coyote’s fur color can be gray, white, tan, or brown depending on where they live. If a coyote lives in the mountains, their fur color will most likely be darker than the coyotes that live in a desert. The maximum speed for coyotes are 43 mph. 

Coyotes live in North America, they walk around the plains, mountains, and sometimes even deserts of Canada , United States, Central America, and Mexico. Some may even in tropical climates or weather. Other coyotes could just live anywhere and adapt to it.

What coyotes eat-

Coyotes eat small animals that they can capture or find. They eat mice, rats, rabbits, squirrels , mountain beavers, snakes, lizards , frogs, fish and birds. They hunt at night for their food. Coyotes are mainly carnivores but sometimes they would eat fruits and berries occasionally.  They eat grass , fruits , and berries during the summer and fall time.

What coyotes look like- 

 Coyotes have a dog - like shape and medium-sized dogs. The color of their fur can be grey or reddish, brownish , tan, and some parts of fur that are white. 

Other information about coyotes-

They have white fur under his neck and body. Coyotes usually hunt alone or in pairs. Coyotes will eat just about everything and they can live up to 20 years.  They have an excellent sense of smell and can run 40 miles per hour.

Coyotes are roaming around Monterey Park on Edison trail, Garfield, Grandridge, and other hill slide places. Coyotes live in hills, sometimes even come down to ground level to hunt. (picture below)  Coyotes also mark there land once they get used to being there. They mark it by putting paw prints in the dirt.

Coyotes are opportunists, both as hunters and as scavengers. They eat any small animal they can capture, including mice, rats, gophers, mountain beavers, Rabbit, and squirrels, also snakes, lizards, frogs, fish, birds, and carrion (animal carcasses).Grass, fruitst, and berries are eaten during summer and fall.

coyotes are known for how well they adapt to different habitats. They can even be found living in and around large cities. In the Sonoran Desert,coyotes can be found in all habitats from desert scrub, grasslands, foothills as well as in populated neighborhoods.

Coyotes are carnivores but, they sometimes eat fruits and berries. When they eat meat they eat birds, mice, and snakes. Most of the time Coyotes hunt alone but when they do hunt in packs it’s for bigger animals such as dear and sometimes they eat bear! Coyotes are not very dangerous because they rarely attack humans. You shouldn’t be scared of them because they are scared of you. There hair color is normally grey. The average coyote weighs about 35 pounds. It’s about the weight of a 3 year old.Modern coyotes have displayed their cleverness by adapting to the changing American landscape. They have even colonized cities like Los Angeles, and are now found over most of North America. Coyote populations are likely at an all-time high. Many coyotes in the united states are shot because they are thought that they will do harm.

Where they live:  Coyotes live in north america.  They live in deserts and forests they also live in neighborhoods with food.

What coyotes eat:  Coyotes are omnivores they pretty much will eat anything, though.  They have a wide range of an appetite.  Coyotes can eat any little thing you would toss to them, from a 🤬 to a full pizza or a watermelon!  They would eat from the trash cans or whatever they see in front of them that seems edible.  As far eating in their habitat, they eat small rodents that are easy to catch, like mice, bunnies, jackrabbits ect.  After they could eat any of those, the coyote packs would go  hunt for bigger animals such as deer or caribou.
