Here's my list of five things we know to be true, school is exhausting, writing something original can be very hard, learning takes effort, learning takes more effort if it is something you do not like, writing something great takes time.
What is your favorite thing to do in Colorado?

Living life with reckless abandon

Children, as one would expect are, normally, careless. However, when a child puts their hand on a stovetop after you tell them not to, you also expect them to not put it back on. I, unfortunately, am the kind of child who would handle scalding plates so I could get used to the temperature, so I may one day be able to lay my hands on the stovetop without getting burned. In the third grade, my parents decided that gymnastics might be the activity I would be suited for since I had climbed our metal shelving as a monkey would. The first week I experienced this sport we were instructed on how to do a hip-swing and candlestick. For those unaware, a hip-swing in gymnastics is when you flip yourself around a bar at your waist and a candlestick is when you hold your body upside-down with your arms holding you to a bar at your waist. As a 70-pound 8-year-old, swinging my full body weight around did not do much damage to my surroundings, I had not paid any mind to how often I crashed to the floor. I quickly discovered that if you hold yourself just right you can do a candlestick between two chairs. Suddenly it was as if I had joined the running of the bulls, I did candlesticks anywhere and everywhere. Rain or shine, it was candlestick time! One winter school day at recess I decided to do candlesticks between two of the ten bike racks. As I swung my body back and forth, back and forth, stop. It was 30° much colder on the tips of my fingers. I yank my gloves that have leather palms out from my coat and place them upon my hands. I began again, back and forth, back and forth, slip. I crashed on my tooshie. I think, “I must have not been doing it right.” I start back up, back and forth, back and forth, slip. I responded to myself, “It must be the gloves.” I rip my gloves off and try once more, back and forth, back and forth, and up. “Success! Oh, no.” SLIP. My head plummeted to the ground, as I lay there, people crowded around me. “When did they get there?” I questioned myself. “Esther, are you alright?” One said, “Oh God! She probably has a concussion!” another shouted. “Like that minuscule of a fall was going to scratch me, but thanks for the concern.” I thought as I replied, “I think I’m fine.” “Can you stand up?” one of the adults asked. I thought to myself, “What did I break my legs?” however out loud I said, “Yeah, I’m fine.” “Good, let’s get you up and get you to the nurse. Can two of you help her get there?” Two children chimed in, “Yes.” Thus I was carried away like an antelope by two jaguars.

Bromley East Charter School child pick-up time was the best time for me to take a nap since my 4 siblings and the multitude of others we would bring to their respective homes, would take 30 minutes to an hour to come to join me and my mother in our green Nissan quest. The moment I was in the van I was strapped into my car seat by my mother. This one fateful afternoon I had been strapped in and counted. My buckles of the car seat I had were digging into where my bladder was. After a few minutes of tugging at the straps, I had had enough I unbuckled myself with severe difficulty. “I really have to go potty,” I discovered. “I should go now.” The issue comes that today, it was only the six children in the van today. All except my eldest brother Leo were in already. I thought to myself, “I can probably make it back before big Bruder gets in.” I fall out of my seat in the car and pace near my mother who was driving, I outwardly mumble, “Momma, I need the potty.” and I climb out of the car and race inside. Once in the doors, I turn right to get to the potty near the gym. Once I was done I went back outside only to see that I was an infantile turtle! My mother was nowhere to be seen! I feel my face start to get hot and the tears welling up in my eyes, as I have them roll down my cheeks I realize that my mamma had left without me. I go over to the everything rock and sit down. “I’m a good girl! Mamma will be so pleased that I waited for her!” 7 minutes go by and I have a secondary realization, “Mamma’s not coming back is she?” I had indeed assumed that my mother had abandoned me permanently. My mother states that she had not even known I was gone until she opened the door to our home. I, as the scared child, remembered what mom told me, “If you ever need help at school ask the front desk.” One panicked sprint later, I was inside the school building nearing the lady at the front desk. Once I had approached she asked “Was there something you needed?” I response was a little dramatic, “Mamma is gone!” I am full sobbing at this point and she calmly states, “We will get her on the phone and get her to come back okay?” “Okay.” At the pace of me getting anything gone my mother races in to pick me up to go home.
