2. Search for an image of a Primary classroom that you would like to have as a teacher. Why do you like it? What makes it an effective learning environment?

My ideal classroom would be an approximation to that of the image. First, the organization of the classroom is very comfortable for both the students and the teacher. The classroom is colorful and charming, but not too loaded. The teacher hasn’t table. In this case, to store her things, she can have a side table or a drawer.

The students are organized in groups, which allows them to interact and talk to each other during the works sessions. Group work is very important because I believe that everyone can give their point of view or their help if a colleague requires it.
In addition, the chairs are stackable, this allows us to stack them and leave the classroom clear for the sessions that students have to occupy the entire classroom.

Each table has material that the students can use during classes. Although in the organizers that are next to the classroom has more material (organized by category).

The environment where you work is very important for learning. On the one hand, if you are in a pleasant and warm place, work and ans learning will be more effective. On the other hand, if you are in an unpleasant and uncomfortable place, you won’t work or learn well.

The routines that students should do should be simple. These are, for example, songs for entering and leaving the classroom, for to say the weather, the date and hour. Then, every day, I'll ask students how are they.In my classes, I’ll establish routines because I think they are important. As I said before, I would establish routines with songs for the entrance and exit of the classroom and the creation of groups. Then, every day, I’ll would make a small song with a dance with vocabulary that we have worked on before or that we’ll to work.

1. What are the main things to keep in mind when teaching English to younger learners?

Firstly, the teachers what teach English to youngers learners must provide a homey, friendly and warm classroom so younger learners feel comfortable. Secondly, teachers have to try to deliver lessons with simple routines, directions and rules.
The activities have to be short, but include a lot of vocabulary practice. Moreover, there have to be different types of activities and types of participation with much repetition. The activities for greater learning are games, songs and mimicry with and without objects, among many others. Is very important that the younger learners are working together and having fun, but also, is important that they can work individually.

4. How can we avoid some of the “bad” teaching habits shown in the BBC videos?

We can avoid “bad” teaching habits, being aware that the best way to learn a language is by practicing it, therefore, we have to promote the oral practice of the language.

The explanations have to be short and with few examples. Teachers have to comply with the rule that says that students must speak 70% and the teacher 30%.

If students make mistakes, they shouldn’t be humiliated or angered. We have to show them that mistakes learn.

When we ask our students questions, we have to allow time for them to think and respond. If we give them the answer ahead of time, they won’t learn.

To know if the students have understood a lesson, we must ask them questions about it.
