Drugs can be pretty addictive, and you might not even notice it until it's too late. For example, you might think that prescriptions and whatnot can do no harm, they can. One day, you'll tell yourself that you'd only take the amount of pills the doctors tells you. Then after finishing all of them, you might already be used to the feeling of swallowing pills. That's one factor of being addicted.

I know a lot of people that used to be smokers and alcoholics. Some overcame their addictions; and some didn't. I've heard stories about how people were struggling to overcome their problems, that they even thought of ending their own life. One of my friend's family member was in a situation like that. He would say things like, "why did I do this in the first place?!" "I regret everything!" The voices in his head didn't help with the situation at all. He became depressed and did some stuff that would get his mind off of drugs. Families and friends saw the change in him and quickly threw themselves at him to help. Really, he cried so much; seeing many people willing to get him back on track.
