1."Bring the boys home (bring 'em back alive)"
- The song came out at a time where soldiers were coming back home dead in body bags.
2."You marched them away--yes, you did--on ships and planes
To the senseless war, facing death in vain"
- Young men were drafted and forced to participate in the war. They were sent on ships and planes to a scary war, where they were being killed by the difficult and powerful Vietnamese army.
3."Enough men have already been wounded or killed"
- The war should be stopped to stop the number of people being wounded or killed, considering we've already lost enough men.

The song was mainly written by General Johnson, However, sung by Freda Payne. Freda Payne was an African American singer. She sung the song at a period of time where soldiers were coming back home dead. Most of the dead soldiers were African Americans. Payne supported the anti-war movement which would explain the song. The creation of this song socially effected people on their view point on why the war was so unpopular (Young men were forced to go to war and get killed), as the song became very popular at the time. This song also shows that people are conscious of the "Credibility Gap" as they are being told they are winning however they are seeing the opposite.

The song is a social influence on the war considering that political songs, became very popular at the time of war. The songs also strongly and clearly showed the support of anti-war. The title of the song "Bring the Boys Home" shows that the author wanted an end to the war, meaning the author was a "dove", which wanted to stop the fighting. The writer also proves the "Credibility Gap" by saying that alot of the soldiers coming home were dead, showing the loss of lives and the war. However, America continued to tell their people that they were winning, which was then disproved by the media and it's social influence on people.
