The world around us is made up of many different parts: buildings, streets, landmarks, nature, stores, schools, crosswalks and the like. When taking pictures some locations naturally stand out more than others, like an alleyway with lights strung above it, a famous statue or a well framed sunrise. A photographer's job, in part, is to spot which these structures would make an interesting photo and how to frame it.

What about the locations that don’t stand out? If photography is meant to visually convey a story, could a story bring out something unseen in the environment? Do our experiences in the world have an impact on the visual substance of our environment? What stories exist in all the places your eyes pass over naturally? Next time you glance at the mundane and unassuming, think of what could be more.
