This section was an important quote. Eddie was talking to Dominguez about him going to Mexico. Eddie then did a very nice gesture to Dominguez by giving him money to get his wife something. This shows that Eddie has a side that people don't see which show him as caring. Eddie is seen as this grumpy old man, who only like kids but he takes care of the people who are important to him. Like when the little girl was important to Eddie he risked his life to try and save her.

This is an important part of the story for the story for Eddie. He realizes where he is and what might have happen for him to see the Blue man again. Eddie talks all about how he was trying to get away from that peir since he spent his entire life at that peir. The Blue man explains to Eddie that it is all how you look at it and heaven is not what it might seem like and it can come in different ways for different people. So there must be a real significance of this peir to Eddie through out his life.

This part of the chapter you learn about why theblue man is the first one to be greating Eddie. The reader hears a story from two different sides one is Eddie playing with his friends when he was younger and he was just going to get his ball in the street and almost got hit by a Ford Model A but was fine and went back to his friend. But the Blue man was on the other side of that day and he was not as lucky, he was able to dodge Eddie but lost control of the car and hit a truck and died of a heart attack on the side of the road. So little did Eddie know he was the reason the Blue man died the whole time without knowing.

This was the right before the blue man left Eddie and he was trying to teach the whole point of heaven and how to look at life know in death. But all Eddie could think about was the little girl from the peir that he was trying to save. When he found out she didn't survive he was upset and regretted his choice to try and save her when it killed him. The blue man then tells him life can't be a waste the only waste can be the time you spend thinking your alone.

This was the begining part of learning where Eddie second heaven would be and who we might meet from Eddie's past. The reader immedatly learns that Eddie feels different than how he was when he was a child knowing we are at a different point in his life. After Eddie exploring the area and finding rifles and finding his dog tag he realizes where and when he is. His second heaven will be taking place where he served in the war and the person he meets will be someone he meet or came in contact with at in this part of his life.

We learn where in Eddie's life the book is and we are introduced to a new character. This charcter is Eddie's next person he is meet in heaven. Eddie see his old Captin from his time in the war and is in complete shock. Knowing he died Eddie realizes that is his second person he is seeing in heaven. The Captin knew Eddie did not expect to him waiting for him. The Captin was very conforable not blinking an eye seeing Eddie and keeping his focus on his cigarette. With reading what we have so far the reader can come to the conclusion that the Captin is important to Eddie's life in some way but how is the question.

This point of the chapter we are learning about what Eddie went through during the war and who he was doing it with. We already knew Eddie was very caring but the reader learns about another instance when his caring nature and bravery met to help someone. He thought he saw someone in the building they were setting on fire he was trying to get the out but he could get anyone out. His fellow soldiers were trying to get him out and kept telling hi there was nothing they could do and they had to leave. Eddie was not leaving without rescuing that person espally when he realized the person he thought he saw resembled the size of a child. He ended up almost killing himself and the other soliders had to save him. This relates to the begining of the story when he ended up dying try to saving a little girl.

At this point we learn about the relationship between the captain and Eddie. The reader also learns how the captain dies. He died trying to help Eddie recover from his injury and he stepped to a landmine. So Eddie is essentially the reason the captain died. This relates to the first person who Eddie meet in heaven, both people were indirectly killed by reason of Eddie. The captain was the one who rescuded Eddie from the barn by shooting his leg, Eddie resented the captain for shooting him and being the reason Eddie had knee problems.

In this part we learn about Eddie's relationship with himself and his father. The author talks about how all parents damage their kids but to different capacities and Eddie's dad was no different. When Eddie was first born his father was disappointed because he was a boy and it just got worse from there. Eddie's father would never hold him or show him any love growing up it was always just discipline. Later Eddie's father would take him to the peir and his father would leave him with strangers so he could go drink. His father would pick alcohol over his family a lot. Eddie would do everything in his life trying to impress his father and make his father proud.

In this part the reader and Eddie learn about who the third person he was meeting in heaven was. After learning about the backstory of her and her husband she started talking about this amazing amusment park she and her husband created. Eddie never put it together till she said her name who she was to him. Her name was Ruby, she is who created the ruby peir and who it was named after. This peir was such a big part to Eddie's life and she was the reason it was even there. Eddie met almost everyone important to him thanks to the peir and it was all started from her and her husband.

This part was very important because Eddie is learning what his father did that he never knew and could change how he thinks of him. When his father came home from work he saw his best friend Mickey attempting to rape his wife with Eddie right there. In almost every situation similar to that his father would kill that person within a minute but this was different. When his father was chasing Mickey to probably kill him, Micky went into the water. He was drowning and instead of just letting him drown because of what he did to his wife Eddie's father jumped in to save him. Eddie was watching the whole thing and as he was seeing what his father was doing it was questioning what he knew about his father. This is important because the idea of Eddie forgiving his father was creeping in after seeing him save someone who wronged him.

In this part Eddie had seen parts of his father that he had never seen and he now looks at him differently. He lets out all his feeling on his dad, he airs out how angry and hurt he was by his father and his actions his whole life. Even though what Eddie saw doesn't change what his father did to Eddie it does tell Eddie that he might have been too hard on his father. Eddie wants to tell his father that their relationship is fixed and he forgives him. Before this Eddie had thought he had moved on without forgiving his father. Ruby was trying to teach him that to move on you have to forgive your father. Eddie's relationship with his father was something he always had problems thinking about because of the hurt that came for it but with this being fixed it can help him not look at his life with such disappointment and hatred.

After meeting his first three people in heaven Eddie finally gets to see Marguerite again. He is first meet with all different types of wedding of different cultures to then be meet with his wife. Even with Eddie's wife beging gone for so long he still never forgot what her voice sounded like and all her feature. With her being gone for so long most would think when Eddie hears her voice he would run to her and never let go but he was stuck in place when he heard her voice. When Margurerite was finally in front of Eddie he just fell to his knees in awe.

Even though Eddie was growing older in heaven he was seeing Margeruerite as she was the day they got married. That shows the reader that their wedding was obvisly a very important event in their lives and their relationship is something they both cherish. When Eddie and his wife were talking she joked about him forgetting how she looked and Eddie made sure she knew he never forgot anything about her. We then learn why Eddie and Margeruite are surrounded by a bunch of weddings. This is were Margeruite stays she loves being surrounded by weddings. This tells the reader that Margeruite loves being surrounded by love and her idea of heaven is beging around on people best day of their lives.

On one of Eddie's birthdays he decided to go to the race track and gamble on some of the races. He made quite a bit of money and he called Marguerite excited and she met him with disapointment and wanted him to come home and focus on helping adopt a kid. When Marguerite yelled at him she felt really bad because she always tries to make Eddie birthday the best it could be so she wanted to apologize. When she went to see him see was stuck by an alcohol bottle and it caused her to crash. This crash ended up causing Eddie and Marguerite to not adopt the baby. So Eddie could feel responsible since she was going to get him when she crashed which heavily altered how their life could have gone.

Eddie meets his final person he is meeting in heaven and it is a young asain girl. They are talking for a while and we learn her name Tala. Tala keeps talking about the fire and being burned. She says Eddie burned her and its his fault and he slowly realizes who she is. She is the shadow in the burning barn during the war. Eddie knew there was someone in there and he treid to save them but he couldn't. He now knows that he was the reason a innocent young girl died and he could have done someting. So her blood is on his hands. She has stayed with his all through out his life whether he knew it or not to get to the point where they are know in heaven so they both reallly know what happened that day.
